  • Darwin 4WD, Boating and Camping Expo May 10th and 11th 2014

    G'Day,

The Darwin 4WD, Boating and Camping Expo will be on the 10th and 11th of May. I will be able to attend on the 10th but I noticed ARB isn't on the exhibitors list. Is there any reason for this as I was hoping to pick up a good deal on a 60L ARB fridge.

    Cheers.
    Winston.

Wasn't very happy with the expo. Wanted to buy a generator (will end up getting it from this mob http://www.generatorplace.com.au/ ), TPMS ( will get from this mob http://www.landybitz.com.au/safety ) and a Fridge (will get one form ARB) but didn't get any of them. Was also after a stone guard system for the back of the Prado but nothing (might be looking at making one like this - http://www.stonestomper.com.au/ . I did get 4 head lamps for camping saving $20 and got to meet Alan from Terrain Tamer. Very nice fellow. Gave me some good advice on the questions I had and he gave me a 500ml bottle of Flash Lube diesel conditioner. So I got my $30 my wife and I paid to get in on savings I made.

At the end of the day we are located at one end of the planet and this will be expected...
    Winston.

I think the most disappointing thing is, that the so called 4WD industry leaders did not attend not just the accessories companies but also the vehicle suppliers. The problem is Darwin is a sole dealer town so they have a monopoly on the market. Opposite lock was the only major accessories dealer there.
I congratulate those that made the effort to attending and to help further the 4WD experience in the territory. For a show that is now 2 years old I believe they have not done to bad.

Heard along the grapevine that ARB and TJM pulled out because the organisers hiked up the fees over last year, and they drew minimal sales from the show itself... agree, the show was disappointing, but i also think we have to support it in order for it to get bigger. At least they had a food van or two there, would be nice if they had more areas to sit down in the shade with the kids though!

Considering you are going to these shows to supposedly buy something you would think that they wouldn't charge you to go in like it used to be.

I agree that the show was a little disappointing but OL did take some of my cash though in the form of a set of 35 watt HID lights The problem is it looks like they may be too big for the factory alloy bar

Commendations to Opposite Lock and Powerful 4x4 for good displays.
