Agreed! I did consider the Shittrax for a bit, changed my mind but I still haven't bought them yet! Waiting for a sale on the real deal

Maybe like the Great Wall who seem to get an old Rodeo body and plonk an old Mitsubishi motor in it, this Toyota copy will be a good one with a Toyota body and a reliable 3.2 pajero motor or even better an Isuzi motor , at lest it won't detonate

agree. Given modern production techniques, it's somewhat irrelevant as to where a car's manufactured / assembled - Thailand the prime example. When i was a kid, Hyundais were a complete joke for fair reason. Today, some people now buy them for more than price.

BAW are still manufacturing copies of many vehicles, Jeeps, Toyotas and more. The 90's style Prado goes for around $30k AUD, with option of a 2.4L or 2.7L.

Whilst there's also a licensed Toyota manufacturer in China, with their later model Prado going for around $100k AUD.

No, a stupid law that says I can't shoot the bastards is to blame. In order to get them to buy our wheat, beef, iron ore, LPG, etc we have to allow them to send us a whole pile of cheap shite. If we didn't allow the cheap stuff in we wouldn't have this issue.

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.

So you're saying when our mining companies (BHP, Rio Tinto, Wesfarmers, etc) sign contracts of sale/export to China, they include clauses which force us to keep our $2 shops well stocked? Where did you learn about this, your local pub?

agreed they have also raised their quality bar so much higher and still offer a price competitive product versus others in the same market space, therefore they get purchased on price and quality now

Many moons ago when i was at Mazda, Kia used to buy a lot of the old tooling for discontinued models and reproduce them as a Kia.
They did this with 121 Bubbles and a few other models.

The Chinese manufacturers on the other hand just seem to take without asking.

                  Regards, Jason.

                    Bingo Andrew! Spot on.

To add also, with the experiences with the many Chinese manufacturers that have visited us in the Suspension game, we often find a similar theme.
They all copy a part, including all of its faults that make it a continual failure without trying to rectify the failures.
Steve the owner at Wholesale Suspension would often argue with them over this when they came in spruking their product quality.
We often sent over disected parts to have the failures made visible & hopefully rectified.

Steve once flew to China with a suitcase of failed parts & when he asked them about quality, they said... We have no problems with our parts quality. Ours No1.
He emptied the suitcase on the desk & said, i know, because i have all the problems when i use them!

He made me laugh once telling me he was standing in the middle of China in a Shock manufacturing plant, dumbfounded, watching them stamp Made in Germany on a cheap copy of an oe style shock.

                    Regards, Jason.

I think you'll find it's actually called a 'free trade agreement' which is negotiated through our government, we sell them stuff and we buy their stuff in return. We (Australia) have them with a lot of trading countries like the USA, NZ and a lot of Asian countries.
                      Common sense isn't that common.....

Ask people in the know and they will tell you FTA's are anything but "free". Its all about gaining the upper hand. During the most recent one negotiated with the USA, they really wanted access to our food markets and our pharmaceutical benefits scheme. Thats why we suddenly have oranges, nuts and dates imported from California on our shelves. I can't remember how the PBS ended up.

Don't worry. Soon we will all have to learn to speak Chinese so we will be able to communicate with the people running this country. They already own vast chunks of agricultural and mineral resources here. See who is running all the businesses up north (here) it's the Chinese. Only the pubs have Irish staff pouring beer because the Chinese haven't cottoned on to that one yet. Predictions are that the Chinese will soon out number the Brits as tourists.

                            Want a scary fact?

1 in 5 houses sold in Sydney at the moment is being purchased by a Chinese Investor!

We really are a dumb country in some respects. We have sold off huge amount of agricultural land & outback cattle stations to foreign ownership & now we are selling all of our houses too.
Anyone played Monopoly before? Cause that's where we're headed.
We will own nothing soon & won't be able to afford the rents on the rest.

I have a mate who's lived and worked in Japan for 12 years & can't even buy a flat to live in. No Foreign ownership allowed.

                            My two Cents, Jason.

Most of the populace won't realise this until its to late. Our politicians have been selling us out for decades. The most recent kick in the guts is the budget and IMHO the most blatant. EVERYONE has to take a pay cut, live within "our" means, "do whats best for the country", work longer before retiring, etc, etc, etc.....

Except for politicians. Their contribution is to stay on their current high salaries for one whole year. Next year their pay rise will be back dated anyway.
