I still find it hard to believe that hitting the breaks would not pull up the motor

I saw this discussed elsewhere sometime ago. From memory the fly by wire thing wasn't nescessarily the issue, I think there was a suspicion he floored it, hit his head and got knocked out with his foot still flat to the floor.

          Cheers Andrew

AJ is close to the mark. Operator error and blame something else.

Well they are volunteers, it's what they obviously signed up for, no one is forcing them to do it.

It seems more likely that this was operator error.

Is there any info regarding an investigation of the stuck throttle?

Hasn't there been other cases where this was blamed only to find it was actually the operator?

Yeah last year I was turning our other car onto a school oval when a bollard jumped out and hit my rear left guard & I had nowhere else to go to avoid it.
I tried to explain this to my insurer & that the blame did not lay with me & I was just an innocent victim.

Unfortunately they did not buy my version of events as there were no witnesses, only my word against the bollards' . Eventually I had to swallow my pride and blame it on my wife.

I think that's a bit ruff. Everyone is "in-experienced" at something, at some point. Just be glad that no one was seriously injuyed. If he wasnt wearing a seat belt when this happened, I bet he will be next time.

That's not rough. Experience should be gained by listening to and being guided by those with some measure of skill. Fanging the crap out of your car whilst your mates laugh and run the camera is only going to end in tears.

Agree too. it always happens, people love to blame everyone else....remember that video of that 4wd rollover with the kid? the guy blames loose gravel (councils fault of course) and a kangaroo that he swerved to avoid???

Hmmm from watching numerous times all i saw was a 4wd going wayyy too fast for the road conditions....didnt see any roos or gravel....

In that case the roos were probably loose in his top paddock...
