Dont kid yourself thinking running around with your headlights on is all they say its cracked up to be.
Motorbikes have been doing it for years but they still get taken out just as often as before the rule change.
Yes it might save you from some minor bingles. But the lights on wont stop the major crashes, because they are usually caused by the idiot not even looking when pulling out or not seeing the red light in the first place.
So if someone is paying attention they will see you coming with your lights on,buts its the ones that are not paying attention that cause the crashes.

Drl's don't make any difference to me , I use my eyes to see other vehicles , I don't text and no longer use the phone while moving , Bluetooth or otherwise . That way I'm concentrating on all the other dipshits that do . This way I can see all the European car drivers that are texting and thinking they are ok because everyone else can see them coming with their Drl's and will avoid them . To me they are the same as having a baby on board sticker on the back of your car .

    gold

and if you don't want the stripes you can always opt for the high vis vest!

Agree, my wife's outback has the light switch on full time, and we just click the instrument cluster brightness from day to night in lieu of the headlight switch. The cluster is backlit full time like the Prado anyway.

I used to flick my lights on in the patrol on long trips, but they had to be turned off at the other end, lucky there was an alarm when the drivers door opened with them on. So they weren't set and forget like the Subaru and Prado.

Some LED are good, like the land rover and VW, BMW ones. They are large, and have distinctive patterns. Others like the LC200 ones and some Nissan ones are small and can be lost in the glare of the sun on the corner of some panels, therefore not standing out but actually blending in with the über bright sun glare.

Headlights on the other hand are so much bigger and throw out a large light spread which always catches your eye. And the colour is generally rather unnatural so you tend to notice it at a glance.

Wrong. It's not about one car standing out, it's about one driver noticing on coming traffic to avoid a collision.

You always notice a pair of headlights day or night when making a move that will cross the path of another vehicle. Whether there are 5 or 50 is irrelevant, the fact they are visible means you know they are there, mission accomplished.

After six months of driving I don't even noticed mine are on, can't remember, don't think about it, doesn't bother me. But I am glad that I have not had anyone pull out in front of me, cut me off or forget I was there, and I have a dark grey car, the worst colour for visibility.

IMO when it comes to safety, anything that will keep my family or anyone else's from an accident or being another statistic, I'm all for it.

We use our useless arb fog lights for daytime running. All cars should have DRL fitted. Particularly on shaded road and gravel. I don't understand the complaints here. I too plan to fit DRL on my car soon.

Another irritating thing is how your calls are dropped by bluetooth when you turn the ignition off.
Yes. Agree. I also have expressed disappointment and have been informed others are not happy. I was given an indication prior to accepting vehicle that it may be something the Workshop could sort out. As we now know - they could not. I am hoping that with enough adverse comment they may rectify situation.

DRL's are good. You don't need headlights on during the day. Unless in the country. I always put ours on on a long drive
