I stepped up from a 1991 80 series 1HZJ DX owned it for 23 years and loved it,only had to change out a U/S starter motor once and other than a regular service I'd had no issues with it.
The only reason for stepping up to a Prado was that my wife doesn't have the physical strength or height to safely drive it.Fitted so far:-Toyota Alloy bar,Redarc BDCD1220 battery managment system and dual power outlet, tracklander full length rack and ladder,Milford cargo barrier,Kaon transmission guard, UVP& Lower Shock mount Guards,Dobinson/Bilstein suspension,Toyota Bonnet and headlight guards,39ltr engel and an opposite lock stubby holder (from the old '80' series),Polyair Airbags,Pradopoint sticker,Gonefishin' custom Sidesteps.

I did own a 1983 60 Series GXL with the 2H engine. Starting in Sydney we drove round Australia in 2006 at 80km/h max, including Gibb River and Mitchell Falls. Earnt me a bit of cash recovering a couple of Disco's on Fraser too!
Survived a Roo strike in Cape Range national park with out a scratch. Fitted a bypass hose between transfer and gearbox in Esperance when the seal went, and replaced both front hubs in Perth. Apart from that it never missed a beat. Eventually the roof gutter rusted out and the sump gasket went. I cried when I sold it. I really really miss that truck.
I'd have bought a 100 series if they weren't asking stupid money for high mileage examples. Got a soft spot for the old FJ's too but am lazy in my old age and like my comfort hence the Prado.
Oh and my 5'1" wife looked hilarious driving the 60.[SIZE=2]120 GXL D4D Auto, with a 'List of Wants' greater than the 'List of Needs' greater than the 'List of Haves'

Well I know it's the ugly duckling but the 40 series.....When I was a kid we got to go for a spin in a pretty new one and after our series 2 SWB Landrover with Valiant 215 slant......the 40 was a space ship man.......I'll never forget it.........that thing had a heater and door skins....WOW.....good enough for the Pope!
I've had a 1hz80 1990 GXL and it was great sold it with 320k on it,Had a UZJ100 2003 GXL and it was great (aprt from fuel economy which should not be mentioned in the same sentence as the thing)......but never had an issue with it and now the father in law owns it and loves it........Current ride is a VDJ200R 2008 GXL and it is awesome......it has the fuel economy of the 80 series actually better and more power than the petrol 100....actually lots more power.
The 200 is a rig and I can't think of anything I would swap for to be honest.............Oh had a Prado and although a good car which I liked it is not a Landcruiser IMO....
DanCan I still play now I have a 200 series?........Had a 2008 120 Series D4D Manual 6 Speed...STANDARD White, Soverign Bar..........Rear Cage........Dashmat.......GX Wheels with Good Year Dura Tracs........Bilstein/Dobbo 2'' lift.....Safari Snorkel....Canvas Seat Covers.....20%tint..........55W HID Headlights.....Mudmats front and rear.....
22'' Lightbar......
