    Hi all, does anyone know anything about these tyers. Are they any good? Thanks guys.

    i have been looking at these with interest for a while

    i race on their mud tyres and don't get flats !

    yesterday when getting new tyres on the caravan they had one on display with all the layers cut out
    i must say i am impressed

    but i do like the look of the new BFG alterain , but it wont be out till September for our sizes

      Haven't run the AT, but I have their MT's on mine at the moment and they are the best MT I've run by a long way. Very heavy construction though, in my eyes thats a good thing but some may disagree. In saying that they took very little weight to balance.

      After having these, if I was to buy a set of at's, it would be Toyo's.

        x2 for Toyo MT's. Bulletproof, but heavy. All my friends here are always envious of my M/T's, and I have found it hard to find anything to move away to as I do give my tyres some serious flogging.

        I did some pretty good research on the ATII's when I was looking for a compromise and checked with Toyo if the A/TII Extreme was available in Australia (sadly not). Reading overseas reviews is difficult as there are so many variants of the Toyo A/T's in the US that reviews get cloudy on what tyre they are avctually running.

        Re the reputation of the M/T's, note the A/TII's are not the same design as the MT's. The Open Country MT has exceptional resistance to punctures and sidewall damage, but is a very heavy tyre. ie LT265/75R16 123P Open Country M/T 11 is 26.4kg, LT265/75R16 123R Open Country A/T 11 is 21.4kg The Open Country MT is known for having exceptional uniformity (balance & roundness) for an M/T tyre. This is because the Open Country M/T is produced using Toyo’s latest ATOM tyre production system. The Open Country M/T is designed for hard core off-roaders and is really hard to beat.

        The Open Country A/T II is not produced using the ATOM tyre production system, but being much lighter makes it easier to balance. That tyre will provide much improved performance on sealed roads compared to the Open Country MT. Regarding sidewall strength, the Open Country A/TII is between the BFG Goodrich A/T and the Toyo Open Country MT. The Open Country A/T is designed for users who want good on road performance but require off-road ability.

        Toyo's have a great reputation for being a great tyre - here in Cairns all the taxi's run Toyo's as they are simply such a reliable tyre but at a cost. If you find the ATII is out of your price range the latest trend here in Cairns seems to be to go for the Nitto which are Japanese made and owned by Toyo. You might want to check out their A/T range. My mate here now runs a Trail Grappler (a mud terrain) and its like my Toyo M/T for quietness and has nice on road manners. He's very happy after swapping out from BFG All Terrains to this mud terrain, so says something about the Nitto's. They also appear to be well priced compared to the Toyo's.

          These tyres have now been out and about now for a while so wondering how those who have them, how have you found them?

          Looking at these tyres as a possible replacement when getting ready for the 2017 GTG.

            Put these on 5000 kms ago after recommendation by tyre place in Hawker (SA) after a flat picked up in a Goodyear Wrangler AT. He said they were the best tyre for my 120. Have had them off road on twice. But they are quiet on the highway and have performed on rough and steep terrain.

            Quite happy with them.

              Thanks for that. Just the sort of feedback I was after.
              I saw a set at the 2015 GTG and they looked like a good tyre.

                Hi guys .. Have a look at the thread on Nitto Terra grapplers in the Tyres section for the 150. I needed to replace the OEM Grandtreks and started doing a lot of research. Found the Nitto Terra grapplers which looked good but then one of the guys suggested the Toyo Opat2's. Turns out the Nitto's are made at same factory as Toyo's .. Similar build but more of a road performance tyre than true all terrain. The other forum member in Adelaide had just got some Toyo's for $1100 for 5. I got a similar deal, 5 for $1100 including wheel alignment. Have been very happy with them on and off road. When it's nearly $2000 for BFG's this is a pretty hard deal to pass up. After replacing the Grandtreks, it felt like I had a new suspension. No noticeable increase in road noise. Very happy with these tyres.

                  Seem to be working ok on the caravan so far, done about 5k on them, not chipping on the dirt roads like the cheap ones that came with it.
