The original High Lift brand jacks are not on the list, just another example of why buying the original quality product pays off in the long run

I'll say this carefully:
For the majority of untrained/unpractised users (which is nearly everyone), these things can be bloody dangerous, even the original brand ones!

Too right, and you can almost guarantee that anyone buying these of ebay and the like have not had the proper training!

Even when you have been trained they are still scary and dangerous, they deserve the utmost respect.

I'm amazed by all the people that have them as a decoration bolted to their roof rack or rear tyre mount and have no mounting points where the jack can be used. Even some that might be prepared to use the wheel sling attachment probably couldn't because of a clearance issue to the mudguards.

Ok, now I'm confused. I don't own one, I do have multiple jack points for one, but I thought they were usable offroad for changing tyres?

If you are on nice flat even ground and use it correctly. They are notoriously unstable laterally and if you start jacking with it standing vertical it will likely skip out when lifted. Usable but only if you are careful.

Can you use one for changing a tyre, sure. Should you use one for changing a tyre, NO! As has been said, they are extremely unstable and therefore not safe for use when working on a vehicle.

Having said that, I did at one stage have the idea of manufacturing a stabilising device for highlifts that would improve their stability 10 fold, but never proceeded, I should make one for myself though.
