Not that I have had any bad experiences here, but a warranty is only any good if it's going to be honoured... Good customer service plays a big part too.

        Hey TurboD4D,

have you had to actually claim on that tho? I have, and i had to fight Tooth and nail to get them to come to the party.

I even have emails stating "We are able to give you tips on how to fully waterproof and seal your winch, in which case yes it will be covered under warranty"
and i had to bring these emails up as the response i initially got was.

"If it’s a manufacturers fault we can swap it.
If it got water or mud in it then it’s just a maintenance issue. We can’t really just swap it without knowing. If it gets sent to our service & repairman, and its non-warranty he can still do the repair but there will be a charge."

I had about 5-6 emails back and forth fighting for them to send a replacement gearbox.

they then went on to say
"I should have been clearer with my wording in fact the sealing makes it more watertight, almost fully waterproof, but after submersions the gearbox does need to be cleared out every once in a while as the gearbox isn’t fully waterproof."

they did end up sending a replacement gearbox and i was able to swap it over and send the old one back but its defiantly a case of "Limited Warranty"

          Ditto, IP67 rated.

          That means:

          Solid:
6 Dust Tight No ingress of dust; complete protection against contact.
          Liquid:
7 Immersion up to 1m Ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time (up to 1 m of submersion).
Check the rating of others, especially if you intend to take and use the winch off road as intended. Thats right, some winches are NOT warranted off road.....

I got this response about ip ratings, I think id rule it out

We decided not to certify our winch with an IP rating, as we feel it's more an industry marketing ploy than anything. Have a read of this article which will give you some background on this topic and where we sit with it.

The winch is very well sealed, and we think it wouldn't have too many issues reaching an IP rating for the motor of IP67. Here's the link:

                    Hmm.

If they don't want to put their balls on the line, any fluffy warm statement are just that. A fluffy, warm unenforceable statement.

If someone takes the time to have their product rated and warrant that position then I will always chose them over the garb above. They should stop enunciating political statements with nothing that can be relied upon by the consumer and bite the bullet.

Given I own a set of scalpels and a white robe I can perform open heart surgery with the same level of expertise as the guy over there with a masters in medicine.

                    Any takers?

Hi. I researched this subject extensively and in the end, there was no substitute for the Warn Zeon for my Prado.

It just oozes quality and strength and you can actually understand the manual that comes with it.

Obviously you can get cheaper but they are mostly made in China and enough said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You get what you pay for and the Warn is the only one worth wasting your money on.

I have used it to pull a mate out of "quick sand" and both 4 wheel drives pulled each other towards each other with no dramas.

In this scenario we had to attach two 4 wheel drives together in tandem but worked fine in the end.

                          Have fun.

                          Cheers.

ARB will tell you anything as they are a franchise and only flog there own brands.

I have found that if you look around enough, you can always get what you want, despite what ARB tell you.

                            Cheers.

                            David.

Couple of weeks ago I made numerous enquiries about a winch compatible bar for Kakadu. First, Toyota dealer said there is only one bar, not available in alloy, only from ARB, and that radar cruise control will not work with it. Few days ago, however, another salesman sent me an email saying that ARB has an alloy bar that is can accommodate a winch, though parking sensors and some other stuff will have to be repositioned. Mind you, the bar with the winch, both installed, is quoted at 6+ grand. I am now thinking if I really need it.

I was told that Zeon will fit, but you will have to open the bonnet (this is on 120) to operate the clutch lever, not to mention that the control box will not fit properly. This can be resolved by mounting the control box under the bonnet, and getting zeon platinium which has no clutch lever as it is done via remote.
However now I am thinking about 9500xps rather the zeon, as I do not trust the remote on zeon
