I just saw that on another forum, scary stuff for all involved. Unfortunately some poor driving skills showed by the Prado driver, lucky to get out of that one alive.

    Cheers Andrew

Me thinks too much speed when he dipped the wheels onto the gravel. Hope he has good insurance.

Nasty crash, sadly every time I am in remote areas people are driving way to fast for the conditions.

The driver of the Prado said he swerved because of a post on the side of the road. The posts are usually plastic or wood, will cause little damage to your vehicle, so why swerve? Similar to those drivers who swerve to miss a small animal, and kill/injure people/smash up their vehicle.

Due to an incompetent driver, your vehicle is smashed up, and there was no way for the truck to avoid sliding Prado and trailer. Why you need a dash-cam to capture evidence of other vehicles.

As usual, truck wins. When driving on those single lane tar Qld roads the simple safe way is to SLOW right down, THEN carefully drop off the edge so your whole vehicle is on the dirt, and leave the whole of the tar to the truck. This way you don't get showered in rocks and no one gets hurt. Idiots and ego end up like the Prado driver in the clip.

Two lane road, room for everyone by country standards If it was a road train with the usual rogue third trailer, the Prado may have moved onto the gravel to avoid getting swatted by number 3 and then lost it.

                Slow down mate............

We came across a bad one while heading down the mountain from our snow drive to Mt Matlock (Vic) yesterday. A 4WD off the side of the road and down an embankment on its roof and a sedan sitting right next to it but still upright. Both pointing the same way so I'm still trying to figure out what happened but looks like speed and panic involved. Nobody was with the cars when we arrived on the scene, just hope they were OK.

Just watched the coverage on SMH - Prado was Victorian Driver, crash happened near Normanton. Damage to truck $50,000+

Truckie saw it going wrong and managed to slow from 100 to 62km/h before impact. Could have been a lot worse.

Swerving is an automatic reaction for some people.

Two lane road - if you watch the full video on Facebook the truck safely passes a white car a 15 seconds before the Silver Prado driver appears.

Even the truck driver commented to the Prado driver that there was plenty of soace for both of them. It's rather unfortunate that the Prado driver decided to get off the road.

Would love to know how it responds with a trailer on the back.

TBH I'm not sure it would do any good if your trailer doesn't have it as well?

I have ESC on my caravan, however, I don't want to try it out if I don't have to.
