Peoples lifestyle, location & the type of terrain that is covered will have an influence on the type and brand of tyre.
After 20yrs and many moments of "what the hell was I thinking," the BFG AT still suits me and so gets my vote..

          I'm interested in the Coopers.

I want the STT's  but common sense leans more towards the ST's :? First of all I have to wear out my Grand-Craps. Slowly getting there, 586km's, probably 30,000 to go before I can convince the Mrs....

          Cheers,

The only thing I will say against BFG is that they dont offer a MT in the sizes we need. There AT's are the goods though!

I have had BFG A/T's on my 90 series and now Cooper A/T on my 120.
I have found that both types perform quite well, with the Coopers winning in the mud. Both types will understeer when pushed hard in the wet especially around roundabouts, however the tread pattern on the Coopers allows for better wet weather bitumen driving, with the downside of being able to pick up rocks between the treads on dirt roads with the inevitable puncture and write-off of the tyre.
In my experience, the most vital thing with any tyre is the correct tyre pressure for the conditions. There are many wise words in other threads.

I've been happy with the Cooper ATR's so far. They are probably 90% worn now but still perform fairly well in most conditions other than being a bit slick in mud. Still not bad considering the wear I guess.!
Priced the BFG AT the other day at $290. Sounds like a good deal.
Would be interested in getting prices on the other contenders though before making my final decision.

Great idea Jacto, thanks for the offer to organise a Pradopoint deal. 8)

I need a few BFGs and cant get them for under $275ea, theres no such thing as a cheap tyre in Alice Springs. Ive got to wait till I drive down to Adalaide for BDO Feb 09 so I can pick some up at a decent price.

Nah 225/70/16 for the Vitara through ARB Wollongong. Now I need 265/70/16 for the 90. Im thinking about putting on 75s if they fit.

The size certainly affects the price, $275 is a fairly good price for that size.
