  • Spot light for 2016 Prado Kakadu

I am seeking some member views on what is considered to be the best spot lights for 4 wheel drives on main roads at night. On previous cars, pre LED lights, I have used the largest Cibie Super Oscars with two long and two short range lights. These were awesome (following an alternator upgrade!!) but I am not even sure if you can buy these anymore. They used to throw light about a kilometer down the road and also sideways about 45 degrees each side. I used to joke that I could burn the paint off the sides of any truck that flashed its lights!

Anyway, anecdotes aside, are there LED or similar lights that can match these sorts of specs. I have seen many ads on the web for LEDs used at night but they don't look anywhere near as good as the Cibies I used to use on many vehicles. Mind you these Cibies were not for 4 wheel drive use and cracked easily when stones hit them. I did use plastic, see through covers for a while but these affected the light output.

I have a large ECB roo bar so space is not really a problem.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Regards

    David

Checkout Lightforce's latest and greatest DL230 HTX lights. Awesome bit of kit that is a hybrid with 20 LED's surrounding a 70w HID. Just need to rob a bank to buy a set....

I'm using a 300W OSRAM type light bar on a 120, not a bad compromise between lead floods
      and light force spotties.

Personally I like HID for spot lights on bullbar (i run light force venom 55w HID) and find they are better for long distance.
Then on my platform have a 42inch curved light bar and man does it have great spread.
There wired on different switchs if need to turn on off.
It really comes back to what you like, was reading somewhere about new heligon lights that are better than hid and led
Arb colour code deluxe bar, safari snorkel, lightforce venom HID's, GME uhf remote face, redarc tow pro, redarc bcdc 1240, pioneer platform, 40" curved light bar, dual battery, 3" SS exhaust, EGR mod, trans cooler upgrade, provent catch can, scangauge 2, diesel care secondary fuel filter, Tin's bash plates and actuator gaurd, 2in Bilstien and kings lift,

Search fyrlyt nemesis on Google, there is a video showing the differences between the lesser fyrlyt's and lightforce led 215s.

          It opened my eyes.

            Thanks for that tip Two89w.

You're right and they do look awesome.

I loved the pics showing the length of the light beam.

            Cheers
