Hi,

I have just been told by Allianz I can no longer have cover with them as I have just lifted my vehicle by 2 inchs. Apparently the policy cover has changed recently and they will not cover anyone with a suspension, tyre, exhaust etc modification if it is outside manufactures spec. They have given me a 7 day period while I am still covered. This was a complete shock to me as I have in the past just rang and notified them of changes and had them added to the policy. If you are with Allianz you need to confirm you are covered with your current setup.

You know that you have now had insurance refused by a company and when you apply for any insurance in future and they ask the question 'have you ever had insurance refused' and you answer yes they will query why

Already told RAC that Allianz policy had just changed and they were all good about it. Not an issue.

DO NOT USE NRMA
I am sure they have a whole department set up to refuse claims.
You will need to go up 3 levels of management to have any chance of a claim being approved.
After 40 years and ONE claim, I will NEVER use them again.

I've had the opposite experience with NRMA. No issues with car claims. When we had a lightening strike, they actually paid for a larger TV than the original, that I bought before their inspection, as I hadn't made any house claims before. They get a tick from me.

I would recommend ANZ

It costs me around $800 a year. (30k vehicle + 10k Mods)
they will cover all the mods, just call and list them. (up to a max 30% of the vehicle's value)

recently had a claim. approved everything no questions. I even said I was at Landcruiser Park, just off the side of Diaper Road. "no problem, we do claims there all the time" was the response.

choice of repairer also.

underwritten by QBE, totally covered anywhere off-road as long as your not entered into a timed competition.

The fact is they are all companies chasing record profit each year. Many under the same umbrella.
Check the fine print, ask again because you get different answers each day, they often have no idea.
Some people are employed to save them money, that means more profit.
Good or bad experience, mostly depends on who you get, how you relate to them. Attitude & reaction to attitude.
So there's plenty of stories of good & bad. Don't swear by them because you had one good claim.
Do your homework & each to their own.
The 2" lift, that if it is correct is pretty high on stupidity.
IMO they are inconsistent pricks.

We dropped Allianz years ago for the same reason, we had a windscreen claim (full comprehensive cover) , which they wouldn't pay for because they said they no longer covered glass???
i said WHAT! they said we changed your policy and no we dont have to tell you , sorry well you do as far as i know
