      Thanks for the tip

Thanks for that. I signed up last night and got the $10 voucher. The Flash dropped from $196 to $156 today. After another 10% off and $10 voucher, it is just under eBay prices. Might use the voucher for something else and grab the eBay one.

One more thing: Chewbacca is correct.

Do not walk away from your jetboil while it is running. If the contents evaporate, it can self destruct the heat exchanger.

Hasn't happened to me, but I have heard it happen. Especially for the early ti version I have.

We always boil extra water in the morning and put in a thermos (Aladin brand) and it is always extremely hot when we use for morning tea and afternoon tea. Saves having to get more gear out and wait to boil water. In any case, our butane stove with a normal kettle will boil two cups of water in under five minutes I reckon.

                Thank you for your input

My mate just reminded me of another requirement : being able to cook instant noodles. So a fire and boiling water is a must. But are there any issues with the Jetboil Flash container boiling water with noodles in it?

Just as long as you don't run it dry...

All you need to do with noodles is to bring it to boil and let it sit. Jetboil will do it quicker than any butane stove and use less fuel doing it.

                      +1 for JetBoil as well.
I've got JetBoil SOL* and been using it whenever I go away - to reheat happy camper gourmet meals as well as to boil water.Very quick to boil the water. You can do a lot of things with your JetBoil - like making popcorn.
Also, you can get a pot / pan as well. Gas canister doesn't come with the unit itself. You need to buy them separately. If you get standard one - it fits perfectly inside the SOL, otherwise, you will need to carry the gas canister separately. According to docs - each canister should be good for 10L of water to boil.

Have a look at the Kelly Kettle.

                        http://www.kellykettle.com.au

Haven't used them myself but have a friend that can vouch for it.
Have been meaning to get one myself, just haven't got a round tuit yet.

Have used a SS Kellykettle. Works really well compared to a billy. Not cheap, and only boils water, I don't think you can cook noodles in it

There are clones of these in camping stores for not much. Usually enamelled steel. Good for camping. I'm waiting for a reasonably priced SS version for camping, the kk version is way too dear for what it is.

A jetboil is still way faster than these. Horses for courses.

I'll add a vote for Kelly Kettle, great bit of gear. Very quickly boil water with gumleaves and small sticks. I got mine direct from Kelly's a few years ago when the exchange rate with the pound was good. Mine was also a factory second (although I couldn't tell why) which made it a bit cheaper.

                              Cheers, Nova

Makita have a coffee maker that runs off their 18V batteries or mains. They say makes a cup in 10 min and one full battery will do 3 cups. Could be perfect for use in a tinnie as no flame is involved. I saw one in Total Tools the other day. Just Google Makita 18V coffee maker there are a couple of Youtube videos in German but you can see it working. I have no idea how good or hot the coffee is.
                                Cheers, Wayne
