  • Been a while

It's been a while since I have posted any thing on Prado Point.
So time for a catch up,In June I did the Maddigans line with the 4x4Earth club. For a track that was suppose to be the hardest in the Simpson it was quite easy.We started out on Monday the 06.06.16.Met up with Two other members at Port Augusta and started heading to Ceduna, with a stop over at Pildappa Wave rock.Impressing what the weather can do.
From there we went into Ceduna to get our passes to do the Googs Track.First night staying at Googs lake.Absolutely poored down with rain and as windy as,not the best start.Next day we had Two mishaps with One car.First one of his spotlights fell of,fatigue from the corrigations. Then the same vehicle did a torsion bar mounting, luckily he has had this happen before so it was a fairly quick fix. That night we night we camped at Mount Fink.Third day was to Cooper Pedy to freshen up.From there we went to Lambert Centre and Camped there,On arrival I noticed my winch controller was not sitting where it use to.Another fatigue moment. Some quick strapping and it was back to where it started.
Day 4 we made Old Andado and met up with the rest of the group.Ten vehicles in total. From there it took us Four days to get to Big Red,and as all that go to Big Red we just had to climb it.After a couple of hours playing there it was of to Birdsville to freshen up again.
That night we endured 10 mm of rain and the caravan park was a wash out.Not the best place to be with so much water around. From that we steppe rated in smaller groups and started to try and head home. The group that I went with we headed to INNAMINCA,what fun that was.The roads were so slippery that we were averaging approximately Fourty Ks an hour going sideways with the wheel pointing straight ahead. We rolled into Innaminca at around 10 pm and covered in Mud from head to toe.
We spent Three days there due to all roads being closed. And decided to make hay whilst the sun was shinning and did a runner back to the Bituman although the roads were still closed.Lucky that we did as they had another 6 mm that afternoon.
We then had to go back to Queensland then to NSW then across to Broken Hill to get back how much.Just a further 1500 Ks more that was planned.
A great trip in all and some fantastic people to be with. The only damage I endured was a Mud flap and the winch controll box mount breaking.Average Fuel usage was around 15 Ltrs per Hundered, not bad for the old 1kz.

Sounds like a great time and you got to see quite a bit of the country while you were at it. Shame about the rain but it sounds like it added to the adventure.
