overshooting the km's when bringing in new car for scheduled service - what is the limit

Hi Guys,

I'm due for my 20K scheduled service at Toyota for my 2.8 prado. Looks like by the time ill be back in town she'll be almost 1000k over the 20k mark but still within the 6month period. Does anybody know if this affects warranty.

Hi,

No, it will be ok. It only affects things when you go way over and then only if the lack of service can be proved to be the case of a fault.

Unlikely to be a problem but if so, just tell them you have been away but you like their service so you wanted to come back to them

I'd book it in now for when you get back just so I can show to them the intent... But agree with everyone here - 1000 km's isn't going to do anything...

Id ring them and tell the reasons why, we've never had any dramas with them but a guy at work has a new Disco and was told by the dealer in Geelong that if he goes over he will void the warranty so he had to park it up until he could get it there,

My 10k service ended up timing out before I got the k's and it went in with a touch over 8k on the clock. Next service was quoted for 6months or 18k and I asked if bringing it in at 20k if I got the km's up would be an issue. The guy said it wouldn't really make a difference.

The only time it will become an issue is if you have a large warranty claim. Particularly to do with engine. They may state that you didn't follow the required times and hence deny a claim. Seen it happen many times before. And legally they can.
