Go a petrol 4WD for less upfront dollars. The fuel economy is far better than you think, and the actual dollar costs - when you actually work them out including petrol, servicing, future issues with DPF, EGR or Injectors - are either in your favour or you'd be paying a thousand or so per year for the peace of mind of having no turbo's, no DPF, no EGR, no Ad Blue, no Common Rail or injector issues. The only thing that held me to diesel for so long (had a 2.8L Prado GXL that I had to trade in due to issues) was the range - but in a current petrol 4WD I'm getting around 1000km per tank and have the option of a 150L extension if I need it (bringing in 290L in total - if range was an issue for you). I also won't get the run around from dealers telling me I should 'take it for a run so it can burn off' if, for whatever reason, I need to do three weeks of short 15km hops here and there.

Will the manual DPF burn button be able to be fitted to any model with the 2.8?

No hate from here - completely agree with Mushie. DPF problems on my 2018 2.8 GXL just wrecked a Sydney - Gary Junction Road - Sydney 12,000km trip. It became a tour of Toyota dealers rather than a fun trip. Just wish I'd kept my 2015 3.0 GXL rather than updated. Also, regarding your comment about diesels being more and more complicated these days, I had a Pajero before my 2015 GXL. This broke down in Kalgoorlie with one cylinder being flooded with diesel fuel. The Mitsubishi dealer worked on it for 2 weeks without being able to get it to run on 4 cylinders.Originally posted by Mushie View PostOK you guys are going to hate me - but I have gone off the Prado - too many people having issues with the DPF and injectors. Diesel seems to be getting more and more complicated these days. Shame they didnt bring it out in Petrol. I think I am going to look at something else.
I definitely wouldn't buy another 2018 Prado until they sort out the DPF problems.Last edited by Yellowdog; 23-06-2018, 11:54 AM.

Thanks Snouto - Does anyone know if a dealer has one in stock to look at. (Victoria)Originally posted by Snouto View Post
Red Wildfire is one of my favourite colours for the Prado, and I'm not a fan of red on anything except blonde chicks. With the tinted windows it looks great, but you defo need to go see one.Last edited by Mushie; 12-06-2018, 11:06 AM.

We got our Crystal Pearl GXL a couple of weeks ago for $66,800 - Leather pack, Tint, Front sensors and Tow-bar. Pretty happy with the deal from Sci-Fleet Taringa, Brisbane. Think I'll add the ARB Summit bull bar. Loving this car!Last edited by Fastwolf; 07-06-2018, 10:53 AM.

Can anyone with a new VX confirm that you can turn off the auto wipers.
The sales guy also told her that she couldnt remove the 3rd row seats, so again I am assuming that he had no idea what he was talking about...
One last question - has anyone seen or purchased the RED - Wildfire colour. I was wondering what it looked like in person - not just in a picture.
Thanks

We currently have a 2011, 200 series cruiser, and want to update. We will only buy Toyota. I'm seriously looking at the latest Prado, but have heard stories about the 2.8lt diesel. Can anyone who has owned a vehicle with this motor comment on how they have found the engine in terms of reliability? We live on a farm, and would need to fit a bullbar and brushbars, so also interested in hearing from owners who have these options fitted.

Ive read on forums here previously that removing the seats could potentially affect the cars roadworthy-ness if it was in a crash and would need to be researched and the question asked with the driving authorities to make sure you do not invalidate the insurance or make the car less safe if in a crash. Worth getting an answer from the authorities before you do IMOOriginally posted by Mushie View PostHi I am looking into getting a VX and my wife was at a dealer and she was told the auto wipers cant be turned off - I assume this is incorrect. Thanks CamJam & Pradosaur (great login name), I'll definitely try and find a dealer thats got one before ordering. My wife was saying the same thing about the red - too much on a big car. I have read other comments in here that the peacock looks good, so I'll try and find one of those as well.Originally posted by CamJam View Post
I used to have a red 2009 Pajero and loved it. When it came time to buy the Prado, Wildfire was right up there as an option. But it's a little brighter than most reds, and as Pradosaur suggests, just didn't quite look right. I am all for different colours, but had to miss the Red on this one. Glad I did.

Thanks Morningside, I would have been very surprised if you couldnt. Same goes for the seats, as I have seen a few setups with draws and storage units in their place.Originally posted by Morningside View PostI have a new VX and you can turn the auto wipers off.
also the third row can be removed if you google how to do it ,it's quite involved but can be done.
