True. All these pics of the prado in the flesh are from China and Toyota has a prado factory in Sichuan, China. So the h2 may just be a Chinese spec.

I think it is only designed for China because of competition from Everest, Haval, etc. The Chinese Manufactured Prado Petrol 3.5L prices from roughly 100K to 130k AUD before on road in China, while Everest and Haval are below 70K. With part time 4wd system (as Hilux?), it is rumoured to be lower, starting from just under 70K....Originally posted by Desirable4Driving (D4D) View PostTrue. However, it has possibility that the next gen Prado will be influenced by Chinese market. Toyota sold more than 30000 Prado in China in the first half of 2017, so their deisgn takes more account of this market, just like US. And this market basically don't allow diesel family car despite huge interest from buyer, this market gives large incentive to new energy vehicle and penalty to large engine car, I suppose a hybrid is not too far.

Toyota designed the 1vdj 4.5 v8 diesel just for Australia so I don't think China will influence Australia product too much. After all this is the real birthplace of the landcruiser badge.

Interesting numbers for the China market nonetheless. When you have those kind of volumes the brand can afford to develop engines just for them.

No rumor on the engine. The Chinese version only uses 3.5L petrol aspirated V6 engine, 7GR-FKS, replacing the 4.0 to meet stricter emission regulation.Originally posted by manbir View PostAre there any updates on the engine.
Curious about any higher tune of 2.8 diesel. The Prado is just the slowest one among competitors, although we don't care about speed.
