2018 Pradopoint Upgrade troubleshooting thread.

It would be great if avatars and signatures could be enabled, and the search indexes rebuilt and fixed. It would take someone with AdminCP access a few minutes but would make great improvements for thousands of users and make the forum a more inviting place to join for new members.

Could admin please provide members an update on the cause of this weekends outage? No forum for 3 full days is something i’m sure all would appreciate an explanation.

My first time back in 2 months and same issues from then and all the way back to February for me not fixed. Can’t access several threads still, no avatar still.... Has everyone abandoned ship or something and left a cactus in a pot of dry dirt at the healm? This is so so weird. What it seems like is that funds have been cut right back to zilch and therefor no more man hours spent on the website. Was the forum sold to someone who absolutely did not want to spend a red cent whatsoever maintaining it. The previous version of this forum was way better and was actually functional. This is complete rubbish now because it’s a handicapped forum with retarded usability. I used to visit every day but only once every couple of months now to see if sh*t’s been fixed yet. Answer = NO. I’ll try again in another couple of months. Forum members are just as important as first time visitors who’s random google searches bring them here you know.

Was the forum sold to someone who absolutely did not want to spend a red cent whatsoever maintaining it. The previous version of this forum was way better and was actually functional. I dont know, but maybe it needs to be sold to someone who does want to actively maintain it and has an interest in the forums future. The sad part is it would only take a few hours to sort out 95 percent of the issues and get avatars, signatures, reputation running and add a few enhancements like the users location and vehicle model added to the postbit under the postcount of each post, and knock some bugs on the head. It would make the world of difference.

Just guessing because i cant see the forums settings, but because of your postcount your usergroup is "Lurker" which probably doesnt have permission to subscribe to threads. Admin if you are reading this check admincp > channel permissions > can join channel, and ensure "Lurker" is set to Yes.

jobloggs if you make more posts, you should change to "Junior Member" when you see that try the subscribe again. It will probably change at 25 or 30 posts, each forum is different. That's all i can suggest sorry.

Thanks Piggy much appreciated, i hope he is able to take a look. It's likely also why most members aren't able to edit their avatars, i've noticed only users in the paid members and "out of control poster" usergroups or higher have been able to set an avatar, and all other usergroups dont seem to have avatar permissions.

jobloggs if you make more posts, you should change to "Junior Member" when you see that try the subscribe again. It will probably change at 25 or 30 posts, each forum is different. That's all i can suggest sorry.

How did you go, were you able to subscribe to threads when your usergroup changed to "Junior Member"?

It's not so much "'troubleshooting" as "feedback" - I don't like the new forum. It seems much less user friendly. I used to visit all the time but now only pop by occasionally, largely because of how the "upgraded" forum works. One usability example is the post pages - it just shows "previous" "1" "5" to me - nothing between 1 & 5. It's not obvious how to quote two messages in the one reply - at least when I tried it didn't work.

At the bottom of the thread there's Previous, 1, 5 for the pagination but at the top of the thread there's back & forward arrows and an input box to enter a page number to jump to manually. It's poor usability having different nav options like that, but admin could fix it with a template edit.

Also yes multi-quote is broken.

Yes you should be able to subscribe to topics now, but subscribing to a forum gives a no permission error. Our usergroups would need to be given permission by admin.
