Good to see you got Neta Food grade hose, Bunnings food hose is not great. Plastics technician advised me that the black plastic tanks can be carcenogenic have fitted poly tank to my van for drinking water, also have 60 litre poly tank behind cargo barrier, can fill up in town and transfer to van if needed.

NT Pryce and others that have a Challenge Camper,

Are you able to open the rear door of the Prado all the way with the camper attached?

I am in the market and a Challenge 'Walk In Deluxe' with 'Meridian' features except for the 4 jerry can holder at the front is at the top of the list.

Do you wish that you had any extra features included? The options are almost endless.

      Thanks in advance

      Bevan.

          Hi Bevwone.

We cant open our rear door all the way as it hits on the over-ride brake master cylinder, and if it missed that it would hit the handbrake handle.
We have a straight draw bar in our toyota hitch. If we had the standard toyo draw bar then it would clear the master cylinder as it drops down a bit..
I dont know about electronic brakes tho.

As for extras, we like the new style walk in that challenge do. We saw the "Cape York" at a recent camping show. He even offered about $10K change over ours for that... not bad. (we have a 4 year old meridien optioned up a bit more.)

But I am looking at making a rack for a tinnie. I know Gareth makes one, but I want to make one a bit different.

Re: New Challenge 'Meridian' off-road Camper Trailer (w/pics)

Just towed the camper trailer from Darwin to Wilmington SA over three days (two nights). The camper once again performed excellently. Tows like a dream, easy to set-up and pack away each day/night, and easily carried all out stuff.

We stayed at Banka Banka Station on the first night. We've stayed there before and enjoy the facilities there. The night skies there in the darkness are just brilliant. And the hot showers are just to treat after a long days drive.

On the second night, we stayed at Cadney Homestead in SA. We had stopped there briefly for breakfast once before and wanted to stay there again. We weren't disappointed. If I had to chose between Marla and Cadney, I would definitely prefer Cadney. As we got in late (accidently slept in at Banka Banka - another story), we had a cooked meal in their roadhouse dining room. The meals were extra large and very nice. Even had a range of special meals for the tin lids. The food was fresh and yummy and ensured everyone went to sleep very content. As we had an early start planned (no sleeping in on this occasion), we only set-up the camper tent to sleep in. The amenities at Cadney were clean and neat. Would definitely stay there again.

We're now in Wilmington SA. Funny thing this morning, the kids woke me excitedly to tell me that the camper was covered in small specks of ice (well - frozen dew drops). I tell you the camper trailer isn't used to this having come from the tropics - but will no doubt experience more of this as we move to our new home near Canberra.

Our travels has once again confirmed why we chose this make/model of camper trailer. It has been brilliant and continues to out perform our expectations. We can't wait to use it again and are considering perhaps a quick trip up into the Flinders Ranges before we head over to Canberra.

Will post some pics when I get a chance. 8)
