Re: New Jayco Outback About To Be Ordered

I think you're right Rob. After looking at the various models and prices, we have settled on an eagle.
Now it's a matter of waiting for the right one to come along. You're not selling yours are you??? :P

Let me know if you do decide to offload it, however as mentioned we are set on the eagle because of the seating layout.....but at the right price........

yeah the seating layout is better in the eagle as it makes it so much easier getting in and out of bed, as the hawk is the reverse layout to the eagle. I was speaking to the Jayco dealer today and he was saying it was like $3000 to freight the vans up here so I think what we want for the van + freight even with a PP discount it will still be cheaper buying a brand spanker or a second hand one with some modifications. The price of secondhand vans up here is ridiculous they had a 1997 goldstream camper that looked like it had been on every track around Australia twice for $19000 and it wasn't even an offroad model. But if you are intrested I can post some photos.

Our 2009 (new) Dove set us back $20800 with bag awning and bab bed end fly's from Bayswater Jayco. When I was looking around there where heaps of second hand units in NSW, QLD and SA, but were as scarse as hens teeth in VIC.

Mate that's a great price, but I think the Dove may be a little too small for us and again the seating arrangement is similar to the Hawk, whereas we prefer the eagle layout. I might be in Melbourne next month and may just visit Bayswater.

                    Thanks for the comments

                      Andy,

May be worth a phone call to Jayco at Nowra, a lot of the guys on mysawg.org swear they are the chaepest in Oz.
I know when I replaced my bag ends, they were miles cheaper than Jayco Sydney (even allowing for courier fees).

For what its worth........ and an easy pick up too.

Thanks Rob, I have contacted them and awaiting to hear back on the best price they can do.

                            Cheers Rob

The swan won't fit in my garage!!!

I am prepared to wait for the right Eagle at the right price. This now includes both new or used. I figure the longer I wait, the more money I save......so the theory goes.

That main reason we opted for the Dove. The Eagle / Hawk would only just fit in the gargage, but Dove being that 1ft shorter gave me a little more room in the garage. The Swan / Flamingo wer'nt even close....way to big.

The other reason for the Dove was we would very rarely be in it. We much prefer being outside when we're in the bush.

That being said everyone has different needs I guess.
