  • Best polish to use

OK so I have decided the VX is in need of some TLC and she needs a polish.
What does everyone use to polish thier cars?
I have heard a few good reports from Meguiers products, have you used them and if so what in particular?

    Thanks for any advice

Agree that the Zymol is sensational stuff....... but have you looked at the prices latley? $175 for a tin of polish is out of my league: http://www.autoanything.com/car-care/69A1524A0A0.aspx

I have used The Meguiars products for years and found it to be almost as good (at 1/3rd the price)....and I am fussy about my Prado

Yes it's more expensive than Meguiars but you only have to use it once to realise the finish is much better and the effort to apply/remove and therefore the time saved is worth it. I had two black Audis which have very soft paint and would swirl if you looked at it. I found Meguiars was too harsh for dark cars. I now have a white Prado and use CT-18 truck wash on it ops:

The 'kit' cost me about $150 for wash, paint cleaner, clay bar, carbon wax, microfiber cloths, cotton cloths. It's not that much more expensive than Meguiars for a far superior finish, especially on black.

Meguiars 'Gold Class' Liquid wax is great base.

I have also used Mothers 'Reflections' Top Coat for a quick top up...... this is great for a swirl free deep shine.

                    Re: Best polish to use

I use a carnubra wax once a month, usually Meguiars or Mothers. I also use a light cleaner 2 or 3 times per year.

I find by keeping the wax fresh the light scratches from pushing through the scrub come out easier. I know it's time to re-apply the wax when, after washing the car, you run your hand over the panel work and can feel whether it's smooth or otherwise.

Yep, with a clay bar and good polish, it's amazing how smooth you can get the finish

I'm using the Autoglym Super Resin Polish at the moment. Seems to do the job pretty well. Not bad at removing the odd scratch either. Anyone else using the Autoglym gear?

This stuff ought to be pretty good... $1,499 for 200ml - that'll come to $7,495 per litre. Some people are just born suckers... Oh wait, it comes with a certificate signed by Paul... that's alright then...

Last week I put up a post in the 150 body/chassis section viewtopic.php?f=48&t=8548 about a product called z2-pro that i have been using on my cars (new prado and older mazda) and have been very happy with the results - it so far seems a bit more durable than the meguiars products i have used in the past.
