Anyone completed the rig road across the Simpson in a 4.0 V6 petrol via poeppels and the K1?
I've looked at various discussion on here re fuel consumption across the Simpson but can't seem to see anything specific to the rig road. My research shows consumption at anywhere between 19l/100k's and 26l/100k's.
The distance between Birdsville and Mt Dare is about 720km. 26 litres per 100k's gives me a usage of 188 litres. I'll be carrying two 20l jerries so will have a total of 220 litres (180 tanks + 40 jerries).
i know there is currently a bypass at Eyre creek that adds 60k's, that gives me 780k's between fuel stops with a usage at 203 litres (at the 26l/100k calculation).
If i average the consumption at 22.5l/100k's i get a usage of 175 litres. I'm not towing.
Wondering if this is feasible based on others experience?
Cheers
Scott
