Just to state the bleeding obvious: a low oil pressure warning is to tell you, the driver, that the engine could be permanently damaged due to lubricating oil not reaching some parts of the engine in sufficient quantities.

At the risk of sounding like most of my posts are moaning about Toyota, if what is posted above is correct and I have no reason to doubt it then I am flabbergasted. I struggle to understand how a modern engine can need an oil so thin that it brings up a low pressure alarm at cruising speeds. Even assuming that the engines were working hard in hot conditions then why no high temperature warning first? Why is such a thin oil specified? is it because of economy and/or easy starting? if the pay off is low oil pressure at speed then this just cant be right?

Well......one of the largest car makers in the world can't get the oil specs right in a motor that has been around in similar form since 2015? Hmm.... shades of DPF or is the thinner oil part of the DPF fix? One has a right to expect that these things are done correctly in an $80k car and that your car can travel at the legal limit in all seasons in Australia. Do they actually test in Australian conditions where 110-120 cruising speeds and higher in the NT are common in 40deg + temps. Towing in similar conditions at 100kph? One has to wonder. Oh what a feeling!

Took mine into the dealer this morning and you were on the money firetofork. Low oil pressure warning. Occurred on a warm day when I was driving at 110 on the M1 through some hilly sections. Apparently there is a Toyota service bulletin about it and Toyota australia are changing the oil from 0W-20 to 0W-30. Well at least that’s what they did for mine.

I got christmas tree the whole way from perth to broome in mine (3 week old VX) - I reset them about 8 times. It happened every time I went over 110 for more than 5 minutes. I suspect it's an oil pressure warning or something (I have a fair few mods, and it seems to do it every time I push it somewhat hard). Let's hope putting the correct oil in it fixes it.

Is it a bog standard VX, no accessories at all? I’m about to deposit one myself and that is a concern.

Take it back and ask to speak directly to the service manager. Notify them to have a spare car ready for you as if it happens again, you'll be leaving it with them until its fixed. They would have retrieved certain codes, ask for screenshots of exactly what these were/are. As they are the way to source and rectify the issue.

So after the dealership trying to charge me $370 for diagnostic work, and then saying it was just a code error and resetting the codes, another 700km in and same again, warning lights like an Xmas tree and low power mode. Feels like an $80k lemon to me.

Standard Toyota xmas tree lights. Put a code reader (Scan gauge) on it and it will give you the codes and a quick google will tell you what the issue is.

As its new, ring the Toyota recovery line and tell them to send you out a tilt tray as its in limp mode and another car for you to drive. I wouldn't be driving it in limp mode until you know what the issue is.

    Errors/Malfunctions on 2020 VX Prado

3 days into my new 2020/2021 VX Prado and 750kms in I get 6 errors on the dash , cruise error, check engine etc and low power mode to get home. Curious if anyone else had this issue. Really disappointing.
