  • Diesel D4d Lacking Power NO ENGINE CODE OR WARNING LIGHT

    Hi
Ive been having trouble with my 2008 D4D KDJ120 Prado . It had no power at all when towing my caravan but wasnt in limp mode or giving any engine warning light or Code. When we were not towing it seemed ok but a bit sluggish and we thought it may be due to the 440000 kms . Turns out it was a $60 plastic filter that had a small crack that was stopping the MAP sensor getting the correct information to send to the computer . Look for oil leakage from this filter near your egr at the back passenger side of the inter-cooler . From the research i have done its the same in 90 series ,120 series , 150 series and 4DD Hilux . See Photos .

Thanks for posting, read your post changed out filter, can not believe the the improvement in performance, had a new turbo fitted about 1 year ago, complained it was down on power after the change, looks like that tiny little filter was the reason, mechanic will now be changing them with every new turbo,& more regularly when people complaining there prado is sluggish, thank you

This post literally saved me when reading it. I felt like I was writing the problem myself. Just not the solution.
was pulling caravan and really struggling. Particularly up hills. I've not towed again yet, but can really notice the difference even without.
Thank you so much for sharing problem and solution
