And the poms arn't?Originally posted by GTG Trip Co. - Mattthe last lot were wankers..
At least the poms where original where as the last Australian lot tried to mimic their personas. I think one of them survived for series 2? I know a couple of places they went such as Willow Springs. I believe they tried to tack some old bombs through the Widow Maker at Willow Springs and may have been dragging either a caravan or yaht up behind them. I'm looking foward to it so long as the Tools stay at home. I do wish they had something other than "The Stig". How about "The Brockie" or something.Nick

Re: Australian Topgear
To be honest I've not seen any of the australian topgear, almost watch british topgear religiously (being surrounded by a mojority of scots and poms - not much choice) but i do think its excellent entertainment!!!
Judging by your thoughts on season 1 of the aussie 'takeoff' though, i might give season 2 a miss also - at least until someone starts saying that its worth the time...

Re: Australian Topgear
Looked alright. Not a clone of the Poms and had some travel. Not a Lisa fan but oh well.
We did the Widow Maker at Willow Springs in July and the did describe it well. The track is a walking track that is also used sparingly as a station track. The point the fella got to when he was rolling back down the hill was about as far as they would have been able to gte and is only about the third hill into it. Just after that point you head along a ridge and then a very steep down track into the creek bed.Nick

Re: Australian Topgear
Pity they spoilt it by having Warney trying to drive the V8 Morgan. It was obviously an auto and he was getting his rocks off by sliding around on a wet track. Whoopy do!
Warney, stick to sending dirty SMS messages and leave the driving to somebody more worthy.
As for the road to Lake Eyre, mostly it looked like it had been recently graded so it wasn't really surprising that 3 two-wheel drive vehicles got through. You want to go out to places like The Sandy Blight Road and see how far the locals have managed to get their Commodores and Falcons over the dunes of the Gibson Desert.Dave

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.

Re: Australian Topgear
At this stage I'm still 50/50. I never saw the 1st Aus TG but I felt while this was good, they're still trying to be a little bit too much like the Poms. One of the guys seem to come across pretty genuine, I think the others need to relax a bit and start being themselves. Also think rather than trying to show off high powered sports cars, they need to stay on the track of showcasing some good old vehicles as they have been. I'll keep watching for a few more episodes at least.Cheers - Phil Taylor
