Thanks Drew, but I don't know about the speed holes If I wanted those I wouldn't be getting rid of the turbo forester for a real car

Homer took the easy way and gave the drill a miss for the pick axe didn't he?

    Cheers,

Now that I think of it, you're right. A true Simpies fan.

Wow, must be a natural progression, I went from an XT to the 120 as well.

lease for me too, would be hard to justify the cost of running it if i couldnæt write of 80% of everything i spend on it on my tax!

i think by the time upgrade comes around iæll be in a position to be able to buy one outright, but will still probably lease it for the tax benefits....

                    But seriously folks...

Since I pay enough tax, I thought I'd get the taxman to help me for once.

Leasing was the only way to go to achieve that - so I took out the shortest possible lease I could get over 2 years.

After spending far too much time worrying about what the leasing company thought, I made an executive decision to do whatever the hell I wanted to my car (all of which was adding value) -- and as long as I pay my bills, they can stay the hell out of my face.

I do prefer to own things (as I did my last car), however, I have discovered that it is foolish and costly to do so with cars...

I agree 100%. Anytime the tax man can help me, for a change, I'm going to accept it. I got my salary packaged Prado, with some fruit, and am slowing adding the bits that I want.

I've also nominated 40,000 Km / year on my package and make a small after tax contribution to reduce the payable FBT to zero. There's no way I could step into a rig like this without salary packaging.

As for accessorizing - subtle, functional and fitted by Toyota accredited mechanic (his name's BIL - Brother-in-law). When the lease is over I aim to buy it and pass it on to my oldest lad - then lease another one.

                      Cheers

The lesson I have learned this time is to accessorize the sh*t out of the car and lease the entire amount, rather than adding bits.

Having done it now, I know exactly what I want on the next one - "give me everything you've got, please". It's going to be the 3L's for me:

                        Lifted, Locked and Loaded

That's going to be my motto for my next Prado or 200 series Croozer.

I got mine in a bit of a hurry. Father and brother did the Finke Desert Rally on quads last year and six weeks before the event I decided to got with them - three weeks later I had a new Prado and 2nd hand camper trailer (Jayco Eagle Outback). Asked for a silver one, but only had two V6 GXs in the country and they were both white - so I said "white will do".

The tax man is really nice to me as the vehicle and all accessories are 100% sponsored by my business!

That means that the first my wife knows about a new accessory is when (or if!) she sees it fitted

She does keep asking "so why can't we afford curtains yet?" though.

The boss is paying for my Prado via Lease   ... hang on, that's me ops:

I plan on driving this one till it's dead (should have about 300,000klms on by the time the lease is finished) so for a petrol should be pretty close to dead.

Tax man helps me out as well...
                            Cheers, Leon

Salary sacrifice for me ! isnt really a sacrifice having a vehicle like a Prado though

Got to do 25k a year min, thats a bit tough " having " to drive more, we always run out at around that figure anyway.

I am only ever going to be doing subtle stuff to it like dual bats and comms gear tyres etc, things that dont really have any effect on its resale value. ( my kids have more effect on its resale value Damn Grots  ) the lease company dont really care what I do as long as its legal, if I reduce its resale value it is my problem as I will be out of pocket for more residule. or not be worth enough to cover the residule more like.

The next one will be Diesel and have accesories like snorkel fitted from new. Want to do some trips out to the centre.

It is great to be able to pump $ 200 worth of unleaded in it hook the trailer up and take the motorbikes out for the weekend and not have to cough up the petrol cash out of my pocket. ( spend it on broken bike bits instead )

                                Got it in one Speedy

This is my first package venture into a fourby ... and I'm already planning the next one - with as much fruit as possible fitted beforehand.

Ditto on the fuel card too .. 8)
