I think i got the biggest map first, the others haven't been anywhere as long, i am uploading through the ipad, so not like using the desktop i must remember.

Is the HEMA iPad app available in OZ? It's a $10 download with free 1:2400 topo maps.

the App is cheap in comparison and you can use the maps on pc and transfer data to a handheld gps too, they also cover lots of other parts of the world.

I'd be interested to know how you guys rate the iPad's built in GPS? Any issues picking up a signal out in the bush compared to a dedicated GPS unit?

Seems to work ok, haven't been in thick bush, but worked good on the open road, u do need a 3G model.

I recently got the vms maps for my iPad and mounted it in front of the factory gps with a ram mount. Works well. Little disappointed with the lack of detail on the 1:250k. They gave me nothing on a recent trip to the Gunbower national park so I downloaded Vicmap topo maps for the individual areas. Two problems with this, it is very difficult to find the maps you want because there is no index on mud maps or vms and when I did get them downloaded and up and running every time the locator moves to a different map the scale changes. Still better than breaking out paper maps, but if anyone has solved this problem, let me know.

Also I have found the gps just as accurate as my old garmin, except for one glitch when it told me I was off the coast of Nigeria. Exited and restarted the app and it came good.
