It will be interesting to see how much the phone holder makers embrace the mini. Would be a great source for music, podcasts and offroad gps if they can be mounted efficiently.

I think the ipad mini will tbe the perfect size for the prado to running mapping software.

Seems I've won an iPad Mini in a competition with one of my vendors, so I'll be getting one next week!!! 64GB WiFi & 4G, so it has the inbuilt GPS, and should have lots of space to store heaps of music & maps.

I've also just recently replaced my Windows PC with a new Mac Mini, so I don't need to (well.... can't...) run MemoryMap on my computer now, so it is cheaper to purchase the maps within MemoryMap now as I only need to get it for the mobile device rather than PC & mobile.

I'll get a RAM Mount to mount it, and as I have a spare RAM windscreen mount & short arm, I'll just mount it off the windscreen in the middle down low. Should bring the iPad around dash level, so it won't be too conspicuous to anyone while driving. Just need to upgrade the stock stereo to a bluetooth one & I can then stream all the music to the car speakers as well.

I'll post up some pics once I've got it all in.

Mounted two more this morning in two different Prado's, it really is a two minute job that costs less than $5 dollars if u have a 150 and an iPad case.

Do you think your mounting technique would work on a 120?
Also, how do you find the air flow from the air conditioning vents?
Is the ipad restricing the flow much?
I like the simplicity of how you have mounted yours mate, nice one.

I have the same brand for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 works a treat. Note it doesn't fit the samsung note 10.1

Mackayvx, it won't work the same in a 120 as 150 has the square top dash and the lip were the aircon controls are is we're it sit's, as for the vents I turn then off as the flow is stopped altogether but their is no issues with air flow out if the other vents.

I'm new here, but just stumbled over this thread this evening and thought I'd add my interpretation of an iPad mounting solution that I've installed into my 90 series using a RAM mount TabTite.

I've setup the iPad mini in my Prado now just using the X-Grip II holder from RAM Mounts along with their windscreen suction cup mount. I utilised the "long arm" for it though, to bring it down over the edge of the dash more. It's perfect for what I wanted.

The photos I took were at night time with an iPhone, so not real good. I'll get some during the day with a camera and put them up soon

Thanks Fishin_Dan, I'm very pleased with it The other detail that I should add is that my iPad is in an OtterBox Defender case when I use it off roading and camping and the TabTite holds it perfectly. I'm not so certain about using the iPad Mini myself as it may well turn out to be a little small in terms of screen size. Even with my iPad I still like to have a paper map of the area that I'm in as it gives a better idea of where you are in the bigger picture.

Doh, always the way, just bought it last week, luckily I got some iTunes cards for 20% off so it wasn't too bad. Maybe I should see if the Vic topo is on special as well.

Any luck with photos Dan? I'm keen to sort something out similar . I need something that can be removed completely when not in use
