Thanks again, I will look into the wiring as a possible problem; and I have also now seen the wiring discussion on the sienna site.

Our sixth child (and last) will arrive in October (eldest is 9) and the Prado was the only 4wd with 8 lap sash belts.

We have purchased the 2003 vehicle recently, so I assume it is out of warranty.

      wiring was the issue

"have booked me in for mid next week to look at the problem further"

Well, I now have turn by turn navigation working. The story goes

Drop the car off at 8:30am as they need the car all day to check it out.
I call at 2:30pm to check on the progress and are advised that he has spent a lot of time on it and I will need to return another day for further investigation.

I mention that discussions on the internet suggest that it is related to the speed wire.

I return to pick the car up at 4pm and discover the car has been repaired!
resolution was "Checked and found wiring to ECU poor connection"

It seems that forums such as this one have a better knowledge base that Toyota's own internal one (if it even exists?)

Hello All, my navigation has stopped working. My unit is a Toyota 32203 purchased in June 2012. The Navigation software version is 20:48/18.01 9.2.2.218970 and the Audio software version is 02,02,2012 Ver.50.0807. It was all working fine when I bought the car about 3weeks ago. Yesterday when I turned the ignition on it didnt give me the chance to hit the agree button on the navigation system. The button becomes active for about half a second but then greys out again and the progress bar keeps going. I just took it down to my local Toyota dealer and they are going to look into this problem. They want me to book it in to be investigated. Has anyone seen this before? Also when the Toyoto guy was playing around he had the sim card out and I thought I read 2010 on the version? Have they not updated there maps since 2010?

I just had a call from my Toyota dealer. So the car is booked in on Monday for them to have a look at this problem.

According to the Toyota map update website my navigation system is a Generation 08. If this Toyota Navigation/Audio system is going to be a problem I will fit an after market unit. I notice in other threads its a common thing but I am just not sure about maps as lots of these after market ones say that they dont come with maps. I assume the Toyota map sdcard would not just work in any unit?? I thought the genuine Toyota one would be a good thing. HAs anyone else had a problem with a Generation08 32203 Nav system?

Hi Bluebox, Can you link to the Toyota site you mention? What year and model vehicle do you have the unit installed in? I have an 09 150 Kakadu that came with the factory navigation system. My maps run off a DVD unit under the passenger seat. Mine had the version 15 Whereis map disc when I bought it earlier this month, I have since sourced and installed a v18 DVD (the most current for my unit).

ID:	641626 Hi, my car is a 2008 Prado Grande 120 but the previous owner tossed out the old radio and put a new Toyota Nav/Audio system in with bluetooth etc. Please refer to the photo. I had a look for that link that showed all the different Nav systems with the series etc but I could not find it. Toyota got my Navigation working. They charged me $66 to remove and reset the unit. It must be a bug in the software, as I have not glitched the power or done a thing that would have caused the lockup. I dont feel like spening $60 every few weeks for them to reset it so I will start looking around for an after marker Nav/Audio/DVD system. But for the time beiong the Toyota one will do.

Sorry Bluebox I can't help as your unit does not look familiar to me; it's not the same as my factory unit. Perhaps one of the 120 owners will be able to advise?
