  • This GPS looks interesting - made especially for the Prado?

    Hi All,

I have been doing a bit of digging around on the net to see if I could find a GPS unit to fit the Prado without buying the Toyota one and I came across this http://roadrover.manufacturer.global...ion-System.htm

Has anyone come across this unit in real life?

    Hi Mav,

Haven't seen that one, there are some very good local units. Have you seen my previous posts on the Kenwood combo unit I have?

i like the look of this one

but other than the name, i can't really justify the dollars (albeit WOW sell them for $2999 so it's not a bad deal) so thats leaning me towards this one

but in true fashion, buying it off ebay cheap wasn't good enough so i'm trying to source a bulk supply of them from china..... the things we do for fun.....

Intereseted to see how you go / what you can find out!

I have tried multiple times now to contact the maker of this unit via the website but so far I cannot get the email enquiry system to work.

                  Howdy

Was at the Penrith 4WD show today and Polaris are about a month away from having available a replacment double-din unit specifically for the prado (rounded corners,e tc - just like original) that does, Reverse Camera, GPS, DVD, MP3, Bluetooth...

                  Approx $1800

                  No further details avail yet.

                  Cheers

                    Guys.

I think you are all trying to reinvent the wheel..........Have a look at my install, Double DIN, DVD, CD, AM, FM, Bluetooth, Reverseing Camera, Garmin GPS + Ipod......

                    http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php ... highlight=

The rounded corners are available from Toyota, and the unit I have does all that you are talking about, and for less than the VMS unit....

                    My 2 cents worth.

I've finally had success here, bit of mucking around trying to find a supplier that i was happy to send $1000 via western union to china and actually get something back! they arrived today!

gotta love the US dollar value going up so much!

install this weekend, many pics to come.

if anyone likes what they see let me know because i'm going to do a bulk order and hock them off on ebay but happy to do pradopoint pricing!

edit: that grand i mention above was for a couple of units, tv antenna's, and a few reversing camera's in case anyone was wondering why so expensive.. I'm estimating the unit itself if bought in bulk could be in my hand for well under $500

                        You have got me interested.
When you get it installed with software find out if you can mark snail trails and off road tracks.
Being a PC base I assume any software can be loaded.

I'll fire up a new thread with the install, i'm madly googling at the moment trying to find any info on how the wiring works behind the current headunit so i can easily marry up the connections!
