Currently have an ancient ~10 year old tom tom for road navigation
Offroad I have a small laptop with ozi and plug a gps unit into it to have offroad moving maps. This is a pain in the ass as I don't have a mount for it so I only really use it when lost. Usually just rely on good old paper maps
I think it's time for something easier to use with a big high country trip coming up over summer!
What's the go with tablets for navigation? Do they have proper GPS in them or does it only work when in areas that have phone coverage? I've seen GPS usb dongles would I need this?
I've seen some people use cheap $100 chinese 7" navigators with ozi?
Do you use tablets purely for off road use and then something else for on-road?
I'd like a tablet that I can put ozi on, don't need to plug a separate gps in and also use to navigate on the road like my tomtom. Must charge in car of course
What are some of the best options and how much $$ am I looking at? I already have all the maps so not looking for ipad with mudmaps or anything like that
Cheers
