  • RAM MOUNTS FOR GPS (INSTALLATION DETAILS NOW INCLUDED)

    Hi all

I'm thinking about purchasing a Ram Mount for my Garmin 76csx probably from Johnny Appleseed. I really just want to hear from others using Ram Mounts for a similar purpose and whether or not they are a good product and also whereabouts in the vehicle the Ram Mounts were placed/fixed.

    Thanks

RAM mounts are the ducks nuts.

I sell them through my other business and they are awesome. Seen one survive an 8 roll rollover and not move an inch!

There is a massive range available too.

      I'll second them.

      RAM mounts are very solid.

      I use a 60CSX RAM mount.

Golly, I'm not sure if you're displaying humorous sarcasm, only because of the 'haha' on the end of your question. But in case you're not, the Garmin 76 is a handheld unit. It doesn't come with a windscreen mount. It does come with dash mounts but they aren't that suitable in the Prado. Anyway, I like to have an unclutered dash and windscreen.

Besides, all you see these days are silly old men with hats on, driving around with a GPS attached to their driving screen, lost in the magic of todays technology and showing stuff all concentration as to what's actually going on around them as they poke and prod at that little computerised box that speaks to them............and there aint no way I'm going to have my Prado look like an old mans car.

            Re: RAM MOUNTS FOR GPS

RAM B138-Ga6 is the Garmin 76 mount, then it depends on what style of base you want, screw, flange / window/ roll cage / suction glass. etc.

Hey TP, I intend to get the screw down base and attach it to the plastic on the drivrs side front pillar so it's just above the air con vent but still not impede my vision

                    Re: RAM MOUNTS FOR GPS

I did toy around with getting a RAM windscreen mount for my Garmin Nuvi 660, but from what I gather the mount doesn't supply power to the GPS (like the Garmin one does), so the idea of dicking around with a power cable every time I remove/attach the GPS put me off. The Garmin mount isn't all the 'heavy duty', so I'm in a bit of a limbo in this department...

                      Deeptank,

                      Have a look at www.proclipusa.com

They do varrying mounts and attachments for just about anything.

I have a thread somewhere about the proclip mount for my iphone, and I have bought the mounting bracket for the wifes Nuvi 330 for the Rav.

                          Re: RAM MOUNTS FOR GPS

turned up today, paid $55 for each kit plus a total of $12-00 for the super dooper express postage. I'm pretty happy with that price. My car's in at the workshop getting the motor bike damage repaired (turns out I need a new sump and control arm as well) but hopefully next week or the week after the gimp and I can have a play with our new toys and do something flash in setting them up in the prado. Keep you posted.
