  • Any Problems with Navlinks?

Is anyone having any problems with their Navlink gps (purchased off Ebay)? I was looking at the GPS Australia forum and there seems to be all sorts of problems cropping up with them.

Mine is working fine, but others seem to be having problems with not picking up sattelites and various other software problems. One bloke bought several in October and they all stopped working on the same day. Very strange.

    Mine stopped working yesterday.

Just sits on the last map used.

I have deleted the save file, checked the sd card for errors etc and still no good.

With my tax cheque I think I will get one from dig-options as a few members have reported good things about them.

Mine was losing satelites all the time and screen froze on several occasions.

My wireless reverse camers also played up right from the start... sometimes not activating at all.

I was lucky enough to have it stolen  I have replaced it with another cheap unit (Binatone) which has been faultless.

Interesting, when did you buy yours? I see the seller I bought mine off is no longer registered with Ebay. Looks like I might have to check to see if its still working when I get home tonight.

I'm off up to the Pilbara in two weeks so having the gps go kaput at this late stage wont make me happy.

Mine stopped on Sunday 14-June-2009 (couldn't pick up any satellites).

I contacted the ebay seller via email this morning, and quick as a flash he sent
me a software update to install. I installed the update, and it's picking up
satellites again with no problems. Can't fault the service there for once.

Now what he told me - and I have no idea at all if it is true - is that many of the
basic GPS devices, need the software updated in order to pick up the "new" signals
that GPS satellites are now transmitting.

Sounds a bit dodgy to me, as my ASUS eeepc / haicom gps mouse combo continued to
work fine with no updates needed, etc. Anyhow, the important part was that the software
update made my el-cheapo device work again.

Mine also stopped on Sunday 14th.

I bought mine from ebay and the seller is no longer registered.

I found his web page and have sent him an email. http://poi.betterstore.com.au/

            Don't expect a reply though.

John, any chance of you emailing me the update you got please? [email protected]

Sounds like your update may be in popular demand John, is there anyway it can be made available to all of us who have Navlinks and may be in the same boat?

It's on it's way. (No guarantees, etc - but it worked on my device).

Just found this on another forum:

"It seems that a lot of members are trying to track this seller (Allen Lin) as i have purchased a navlink 5"gps off this guy.

I was able to get his address and mobile phone number he operates from a factory in Clayton South.

Unit 69/266, Osborne ave, Clayton South and his contact number is 0421967059 "

                        Re: Any Problems with Navlinks?

Checked my Navlink last night, its gone tits up as well. Starting to look a bit like Y2K has finally happened. I must admit, I did start to wonder why they completely disappeared from Ebay after being sold on there by the truck load, looks like someone made a lot of money then bolted.

                          Re: Any Problems with Navlinks?

I've still got 11 satellites .... both in iGo and Ozi.

Funny how iGo stilll comes up with a tiny little script though .... "Time limited demo .... " on startup.

Perhaps this has something to do with it  :? :? ..... and mine's only days away from going tits up too

Any news on where to source the patch would be appreciated.

                          Cheers

                              Re: Any Problems with Navlinks?

I have found an Australian Navlink website http://www.mynavlink.com/index2.html that has a link to another website called Betterstore. http://poi.betterstore.com.au/.

Click on the Betterstore link and it takes you to a page where you can download lots of different POI. However, there is a "Navlink GPS restore package" available (170mb) but the fact that it was last updated April fools day rings alarm bells, and I presume the update will only be the existing package which is already failing?

My IT skills dont extend far enough to be able to test the restore package out - or even work out if it is of any use to the current situation.
