  • Well I fitted one of these yesterday. I'd say about an hour to get the head unit in, then two hours to fit the camera and run the cabling.

    A couple of tips.
    1. Be careful when you pull out the centre of the dash, I accidentally pulled the heater cable of the back of the unit. Only realized this once I was driving home last night, when I tried to switch the heater on. Wife not happy, kids in pajamas cold...
    2. Watch the 4 bolts that secure the centre of the dash. One of my captive nuts fell off.

On the whole I am happy with the unit. As has been said throughout this thread, Matt is very quick to respond to questions.

    Problems?
My only one is that the 'back' arrow during navigation mode doesn't seem to work. I'll email Matt on Monday and see if he has a fix.

    • What version of IGO8 are people running? I have IGO8.3 atm but it seems there are later versions around now. Just interested how they have been going.

        • It would seem that my earth was connected to a positive for the lights. WHen i cut the earth problem solved. The camera must pick up the earth from the head unit.

            • Long thread and has made for interesting reading. Just purchased a head unit from Matt (he is overseas but picked up from his dad) and a reverse camera. Easy as to install, worked second (!) go. Had one of Matt's units in my 2008 Pathie (now Customfleets problem) as their stero was crap and no GPS. That worded a treat. Very happy so far. The camera was even easier to get in than i thought (Pathies were a bitch to work on so assumed the same of my Prado). It is nice to have a current GPS unit and maps (Toyota wanted $380 to get the current maps!), ipod control and bluetooth again. While probably not the choice for audiophiles, I like it. Good sound, good features, cheap price. I had some questions around the operation of the unit (different than my last one) and he was straight onto the email with advice and help. Can't fault that. OziExplorer is a bit hard to use but then Ozi designed it for WinCE.
2004 Grande, V6, 5 speed, Tigerz 11 bullbar, 12k lb winch, spotties, GME TX3100, now a Dig Options head unit and reverse camera (finally the CD's can be retired!)

              • Anyone know if digioptions is bringing out an iphone 5 cable, or if the apple lightning adapter will allow an iphone 5 to work with the unit?

The unit Never worked with the Iphone 3GS i have when it was said it would. Matt never came back with a solution. Pretty poor I have to update the phone which is more expensive than the indash unit to just to get it to work as it said it would. But you get what you pay for.
                Cheers

                      • It sounds like you need to earth the hand brake wire. This confuses the unit to think the hand brake is on and it is safe to work.

                          Hi all

The street maps last week stopped working for me?? It would go to load IGO8 and now would then ask for language settings, would need to select Aussie English, choose male/female voice and then goes main screen to select bottom right maps and just hang go no further.

Emailed Dig options and only response was to resend the update from June 12 last year. Is Matt still involved with dig options??

You guys experiencing problems with street maps??

                          • My advise is to head to fixmygps.net. As soon as I got my in dash unit i lost the 8gb sd card with the maps. So I found this site and downloaded the latest Primo from the member Bazzle01. This guy is onto it. I run the sd card out of my hema hn5i in the head unit with the new Primo maps no dramas. I also found out how to change the start up and shut down screen savers to show the Toyota logo.

Honestly fixmygps.net is a massive data base of software and maps and the members can pretty much solve any of your questions. Like I said, hunt down Bazzle01's software files and you wont have a problem.

EDIT: Found the link I used http://fixmygps.info/forum/showthread.php?tid=2935 enjoy!

                            • Do you have a backup of the microSD card contents on your pc? If so, I'd wipe the Sd card and put the backup on there. Sometimes they get corrupted and all sorts of funnies happen. It might not be your issue but worth a try....

                              • Kimbo, my IGO8 streetmaps are still working, if it helps. Must be a problem with your unit or the data on the card.

FWIW, if I were doing this again today, I'd be picking up a Nexus7 and using that instead.
