Hey, I think you all owe me a beer......... Isn't that the rules??????????

Got a photo of my rig in 4x4 Australia's July edition. Page 104 and 105. Now the kids are really impressed - their famous

        Radiator coolant alarm

Radiator coolant alarm fitted this week (part of my prep for some upcoming trips). Redarc brand. Fitted to the coolant reservoir rather than the actual radiator. This may be an arguable point but this was the location recommended by Redarc. Their reasoning was that if the fitting caused any issues with leaks etc, it is much easier to fix or replace the coolant reservoir than the radiator and it will still cause the alarm to go off before any damage can be done. The alarm is mounted under the dash so I can’t see the red light but with the sound that goes off there is no chance of missing it.

New tyres this week. Went for Cooper ST maxx in 265/70/17. Road noise is up a bit but worth it for the extra bit of height and the slightly more aggressive tread. It looks a bit better as well, filling the wheel arches nicely

Good choice on the tires, had mine for a while and they are great on the dirt.

Like the coolant warning, I can't think of any reason or situation where the radiator would empty without emptying the coolant reservoir first?

I look forward to hearing how you go with these. I'll be up for a new set in 3-6 months so have started investigating options to replace my BFG ATs. Happy with the BFGs but always good to check out what else is around.

                    • A bit of work on the front suspension this week. First was a set of Monster Rides progressive bump stops.

Thanks to Matt – mr4x4 for showing me these.

Then I got under the car and put on the front sway bar relocation plates from Superior Engineering. Thanks to Berniebgf for this find.

I have done a bit of a drive since I put on the sway bar relocation plates. It does seem to sit better in the corners but I think that’s just my brain playing tricks on me as I doubt that there is any difference in the ride. I still think this is worth doing as now all the other components on the sway bar line up properly instead of having a bit of an angle\twist on them. It has to help with stress on those components having them lined up and they only take 10 minutes to fit.

So far there is no noticeable difference in fuel consumption. Speedo is now accurate at 100kmh. There may be a slight reduction in pickup, but worth it for the extra diff clearance.
