Finally got a solution to our lack of power issues... Couldn't get enough fuel through the old chip, so ChipIt sent out a 6cyl TD Landcruiser version to suit MUMSRIG. Should make her blow some black smoke now......solution to black smoke? MORE BOOST!!! then maybe a hiflow turbo!! :evil:







Just got it on 1 step up from the mid setting at the moment and it goes much better...

What were the issues with the first chip you had Mitch? Did you have a few custom tunes on it with a switch to go from power to economy? Did it not work?

Started hunting and they went to a different style of chip so they sent us a new one, then the next one I had the opportunity to change tunes but it didn't perform as well as the original so now we have this new one.

What are your plans for the rear end? I can see the shocks but are you getting new springs and will you need any other gear?

Springs will stay the same at this stage.. When we move into the house we are building I will more than likely look at getting something a little taller and then get the UCA's for the front and crank the front end up a bit more. Our current rental won't allow for anymore lift if we wish to fit it into the garage

The extended lins just arrived from Wholesale Suspensions who are sellers on here... They will allow a bit more droop hopefully in the rear end.

I came off night shift on Friday morning and wasn't going to do anything to MUMSRIG until Saturday, however I couldn't help myself and got going on the front strut install.



Reasonably straight forward. No fitting instructions came with the kit, but it wasn't hard to work out which needed to be left and right even though they are not marked. The only hassle I came across is the fitment of the drivers side remote resevoir. The brackets supplied are to suit an FJ Cruiser or a Tacoma and they do not have the windshield washer bottle located in the same position as the 120 series. I was unable to fit the drivers side bracket and will have to make something up to suit. So for the moment the resevoir is held in place temporarily.



I gave the undercarraige in the front a real good scrub and a touch up also whilst everything was apart. The other thing I had to do was to make up some spacers for the front bash plate as the kit comes with some billet sway bar adapters which drop the sway bar down and move it forward slightly to allow for more downward travel. The sway bar would hit the bash plate otherwise.

I still have to tweak the adjustment as it's only sitting at 790 from the base of the rim at the moment.But it is even both sides. However it's a little bit nose down compared to what it was, so the coil over spanners will be getting a work out

I'll get stuck into the rears today. A mate of mine is coming up from Sydney with his Hilux and we might find a spot to test it out after I'm finished....

Alrighty.... FOX is installed and after a bit F'Fing around to adjust the coil overs we have netted:

(measurments from centre of rim)
FRONT
Left = 570mm
Right = 570mm

REAR
Left = 590mm
Right = 590mm

Now it's time for another wheel alignment

Measurments were taken with MUMSRIG fully laiden with all extra's fitted including the roof rack, sliders, bar, winch, lights, batteries, drawers, fridge etc, etc... Only a quater of a tank of juice though.
