  • Homers 07 GXL D4D

Bought my 2007 D4D GXL in January this year and I am going as fast as I can to get it ready for a trip to Fraser Island later this year.

Anyway, the Prado was completely stock when we got it apart from having the standard Toyota Sovereign bar fitted.

Since then I have added/done the following:
    Fitted an Outback overhead console
Installed a Dual battery system with Redarc Isolator
Fitted some 265/70/17 Mickey Thompson ATZ 4 Ribs
Done a 2” Lift using Lovells Springs and Bilstein Shocks
Changed the standard sound system for a Pioneer DVD head unit with reversing camera.
Fitted ARB CKMA12 Compressor under the bonnet
    ARB Deluxe Alloy roof rack
    OzTrail side awning
ARB Color coded deluxe winch bar

    Wish list:
    Front and rear diff locks
Warn 9500xp or Avenger winch & Plasma rope
Cargo Barrier and draw system (still researching them)

Wont even get started on the camper trailer ☺

    When we got it

    After MT’s fitted

After the lift - look at the step line

    Overhead Console

    More to come...

Fitted the new ARB Deluxe Winch Bar yesterday.
What a mammoth job that turned out to be..I learnt a few valuable tricks too.
See the pics below with my comments that might help others attempting to do this upgrade themselves.

Getting ready to remove the old bar

There is a bolt inside this tube(the one at the bottom) that needs to be removed, it holds the bar back against the chasis.
The blocks in the chasis will need to be removed also to allow you to slide the metal guides with the captive nuts arb supply up the rails for the rear bolt holes.
You will need to remove the bolts that hold the radiator in and gently push it back toward the engine to get these block out...that was a PITA.
You will also notice that the top bolt had fallen out and was inside the plastic cover.

                Old bar off

                  New brackets installed (driver side)

New bar in position....now here is a very valuable tip...put the parker/indicator and fog lights in the surround and mount it before you put the bar on...it is near on impossible to do afterwards and took me 2hrs to get the clips in that hold the surrounds in the bar.
We made some spacers out of 25mm pine to sit on the side wings of the bar to give us the required clearance and lifted the bar up to the right height and then bolted it up

Bar bolted on...lights in and bash plates underneath bolted up.

                  Completed..driving lights back on.

                  Hops that info is useful

                              Nice work Homer.

I found that some duct tape over the nut to hold it in place is a big help when you are putting the side plates back on the inside of the bar. Its a niggly job that you cant get your hands to otherwise!

Well done on the install mate.
