The sandgrabba mats are a bit pricey. Paid $245 for the set. For that sort of price I do hope they last quite a few years before they wear through. For me though they were worth it, knocking off work everyday sometimes covered in red iron ore dirt isn't the nicest thing to be dragging into your cars interior, it's so bloody hard to remove as well, so the sandgrabba mats and the seat covers are insurance for interior protection. For now though a sheet over the drivers seat will do til the covers arrive. On another note I got the draws from trek tech And installed fhem today. I've got to say I'm really impressed with the results. The set that were made up for me were the first from trek tech for the 150 series and the job done is an excellent one. I can't speak highly enough of the work that Paul and his crew at trek tech have done. It did take a little longer, while they were trial fitting it into another 150, but the end results for me were worth it. I'll post some pics up in the coming days.

        Cheers,

        Chris.

Arriving today was the new GME TX5320 to replace the older 40 channel 4320. Now just have to work out where I'm going to mount the mic, any ideas from anyone? A set of Staun deflators arrived as well and I'll adjust these up over the weekend after I install the compressor, relay and switch for it. Looking at ordering a Kaymar rear floodlight and rear wheel spacer in preparation for the new tyres. I still can't decide whether to order a set of Cooper STT's, which I had previously on the Surf, or go for the new BFG mud terrain KM2. Any feedback from blokes running these new BFG's would be appreciated. As promised a few days ago here are a few pics of the Trek Tech drawer system installed.

          Cheers,

          Chris.

Picked this up for a song. It's a Ritar RA12-180DG Deep cycle battery 180A/h that we use for the UPS systems here at work, they'd been sitting around for the last 3 months and they were about to turf them. I'll be hooking this baby up through an anderson plug connection in the rear and will be used for camping trips away to give me extra capacity, at 53.4kg it's not a light weight either but should give me heaps to run the fridge for at least another 5-7 days.

I'm curious about this radio. Can you provide a link for it, or is it a typo and you mean TX3520?

You've had a win with the UPS. Isn't it nice when things like that drop into your lap.

That's the one. LOL I looked at the box about 5 seconds before typing that post and I still managed to muddle it up. Good thing I didn't have any more beers.

Its been a busy week but as I mentioned in my previous post I was going to post up some pics of the new seat covers. In making the decision to go with sheep skin seat covers I'd considered going down the canvas path, but decided against them as we have them in the work vehicles and although hard wearing I didn't think they suited the level of comfort I'd invested in by purchasing the Prado. I'd also considered Wetseat seatcovers, and reading all the positives that other members have posted about them nearly clinched the deal. However there was a part of me that was weighing up what the car would be used for primarily, mainly long range touring both highway and outback. For me there was only one choice as far as comfort and wear ability went. I started pricing sheepskin seatcovers and spoke to a few retailers. I ended up placing an order with Wild Ram in Queensland for a set of tailored seat covers.

The fitting was pretty easy, if you take out the wrestling to fit them part, but the end results are bloody awesome. The seat covers are unbelievably comfortable, offer protection for the seats, and are water proof to boot. The only downfall was the price, but I figure if I get 10+ years of wear out of them then it is money well spent and I'd be happy to spend this again for the quality of seat cover that was delivered to me. The front centre armrest cover will be used during long trips, otherwise during day to day use of the vehicle it sits in the rear draws. Although maybe not everyones cup of tea these things are bloody comfy and appear to be well made and durable enough to dish out anything I can throw at them.

                    Cheers,

                    Chris.

that battery is exceptional. i also love the seat covers... I'm still looking for good sheep skin covers. There's so many options and as its not a small investment, I'd rather get it right first time.

                        G'day Wooley,

I understand exactly what you're saying. If you're going to spend your hard earned, do it once and do it properly. After doing heaps of research on seat covers and covering more websites and manufacturers than I care to number I ended up going for the Wild Ram seat covers. They were great over the phone and very professional when judging them on their finished product. I actually think they make the seat covers featured on the Maroochydore car sound site, but don't quote me on that, and do it for $500 cheaper. I'm very happy with the covers and the quality of them. Also happy with the Battery too, I couldn't believe my luck when they said they were tossing them cause they'd been on the shelf for 3 months. I've just hooked up an anderson plug connection for it in the rear so I can plug it in for extended trips.

Also finished the hook up of my winch solenoid box. I've relocated it under the bonnet on the drivers side right next to all the ABS stuff. It's a snug fit but it works for what I need. I've removed all the remote control stuff from the box and ran an isolator switch and winch in/winch out switch on the switch panel below the engine start button. I sourced the switches from Custom rockers and although the switches are quite large I'm happy with the end result. The install of the switches needed some careful carving of the switch panel for it all to fit properly, but I figured it was worth it in the end.

                        Cheers,

                        Chris.

Tracklander ordered and ready to fit once I get back from holidays in another 3 weeks. Brown Davis bash plate ordered. ERPS has arrived and will be my next little project once I return from holidays. Foxwing should be here tomorrow. Just gathering info for a 3" suspension lift, if I'm happy then I'll place the order and then I'll need something industrial strength to get the smile off my face. Looks like I'll be going Cooper S/T Maxx as far as tyres, will see if I can squeeze the 285's under it once the suspension is in. It's gonna be a busy October/November as far as mods go, I almost can't wait to get back from holidays to rip into it again, it'll be just about finished by then except for some little bits and pieces that I'll save for later on.

Got the tracklander fitted to the Prado on Monday. I got Jaramillo to make a custom cutout at the rear to slide the oztent on without any hassles. Fitted the foxwing awning yesterday as well. Looking a treat and can't wait to get out and use it. Still waiting to hear back on the 3" lift, just trying to choose the right springnrate then it will be time for some cooper stmaxx, wish they didn't cost so much here in the Pilbara. I'll post photos up in the coming days.

                            Cheers,

Not only being uninsurable but won't a 3 inch lift be getting close to the maximum operating angles for your axle uni's and CV joints?
