Mods look great. I hear these new side steps will be pretty good when available.

Ohhhhhhh steps!!
Any idea how they'll integrate them into a brush bar?

Looking good mate, you lucky bugger on the steps... You kept that addition pretty quite. Darren and the boys do this or HO?

Is that the transmission computer next to your UHF? If so maybe not such a great idea.

I had some additions added to the GXL.
First some TJM Bash plates.

Secondly installed the TJM 9500lb Rope Winch

With the included TJM winch isolator switch.

Just have to install the remote switch.
And the soon to be available TJM steel side steps. (TJM will soon have Brush bars that integrate with the steel side steps and fit the steel bar)

I had the dash pulled apart and from memory the top of the centre console just has clips that hold it down. I removed the gear knob and I applied pressure up and popped the top off to gain access to the space. Volume is good there as it sits in between the driver and passenger. I know some people put them in the back of the dash. I did not use a remote speaker.Last edited by Brains; 07-12-2011, 10:40 AM.

Any tricks you come across getting the centre console out to do this?pulling the centre console apart as i was looking for a spot to mount the GME TX3440 UHF Radio
Is the volume still good or did you mount an external speaker?

I have also included a write up of the aftermarket head unit installation.

In the process of updating my build. I am compiling a complete guide on the replacement headunit install but while I had the dash apart i ended up pulling the centre console apart as i was looking for a spot to mount the GME TX3440 UHF Radio. As this unit is larger than the minute TX3340 I had trouble locating a spot for the box until I opened up the centre console and saw...

In this cavity which sits directly below the front drink holders I mounted the box of the Tx3440. I used some self adhesive rubber to areas that would be touching the vehicle and placed the box in this location plugging in all the necessary cables.
The unit in this cavity looks like this ...

I connected the antenna and all the cables and put the centre console back together. I connected the power to a 12V feed off second battery I brought into the vehicle which runs to a fuse box which is used for distribution of small items.

I should have done the same when we bought the vehicle but I was away in Sydney at time of pickup and just one of those things you forget about. Getting AT's now so it will be all good. The AT3's are only fairly new but so far gave gotten pretty good feedback so I'll see how they go.
Did a bit of suburban driving after picking the car up from Ironman. I went for the performance suspension kit with foam cell shocks and struts. After my driving I've noticed that is is a firmer ride and the nose doesn't dip down under braking or when turning, the front of the vehicle stays very level. Will post some pictures and details tonight.

Sorry, I actually meant 42km! We had them changed over ASAP- got a great trade in, 5 ST ended up being 600bucks- Toyota quoted something like 1500 on pick up
We have done just a smidge under 10000. Cooper nearly look new!

Rastabacko,
Our 150 has just hit 42,000klms as well and noticed that the AT20's aren't looking the best. I was told by a tyre shop that the seem to replace the AT20's anywhere from 27000 klms to 50000klms. I have heard of others getting better milage but I couldn't.
