Fitted up some new rubber today, went with Maxxis Bighorns cause they're cheap! Plus they come in 65 series profile and although alot of people fit 70's I wanted to stay legal for now. Did have to go 255, but still an improvement on the Grandcraps!

Update, have been really slack with this, but in my defence I'm away at up to 3 months at a time ( and a little bit of a techno spaz!)

Anyway, a few shots of the rear bar.

About 98% happy with the rear bar, just don't think they have the rake right in the wheel arch. Plus behind the mud flap, forward end of the bar, would be alot better if it was a flat plate. That way there would be plenty to screw after market mud flaps to. It's something I have considered having fabricated, just baulking at the idea of removing the bar.

Other mods to date include a set of Wetseat set covers for the front.

I know some people have trouble with the airbag side dragging away from position and having to be refitted, but I haven't experienced this and as such have ordered a set for the second row. I wanted canvas like protection but didn't want the "ute" feel so went with these.

Also replaced the IPF Spottie switch with this number.

Jury's still out on this one, is a rather bulky switch and a bit bright at night, but it looked good on the web site!

Here's a few pics of mods that were done early on when I first got the Prado.

Wireless winch remote, mounted near brake master cylinder.

Redarc DC/DC charger. I bought this under direction of my local ARB store, in hind sight I would of picked the 40A.

And not too long ago I bought a scan gauge, the idea was I'd have one ready for a future module install.

Finally some pics of the under body protection,

and my TX3540 install, the idea of which I pinched from right here on Pradopoint!

You can see I was a bit rough with the plug in the second shot, plus it's a little crooked, but nothing a bit of 406 won't fix. I've since upgraded the IPF's to HID and fitted a set of Cooper's ST Maxx. Got a dash mat from Supercheap, but that was more about winning Russell Ingall's GTS than anything else! Have also ordered an ARB aluminium rack and should be on before the usual xmas trip to the oldies.

Still have a pretty big wish list, least of which is a module (still not sure which one) and exhaust mod (probably just remove rear muffler). Secondary fuel filter and larger intercooler would probably come next and maybe some light bars to fill in the gaps on the roof rack, I'm thinking a Monster Lights kit! And .............

                      You get the idea!

                      Cheers,
                      Dusty

                        Top work Dusty!

What happened to the Maxxis Bighorns you put on a year ago? And which HID kit did you got for with the IPF's?

The Bighorns are sitting in the back yard, I had a big moment on wet bitumen when a wanker in front of me stopped at a set of lights in the rain in an 80 zone. I missed him but wasn't much in it and I didn't like the way the tyre performed. In saying that they are MUD tyres and were awesome off road. The other reason was being a tad small at 29".
The HID's came from Newpro-tech. They're a 70w, 5k set. Really happy with them, quality kit with all the gear to mount them internally or externally. Good simple colour instructions that is plug and play with the original IPF loom. paid $230 + postage.

                          Cheers,
                          Dusty

P.S. Got the link to Newpro-tech from a buildup here.

Another update, set of Wetseat seat covers for the second row seats showed up. Was pretty happy with the fronts so ordered these. The wife preferred the neoprene to canvas so they pretty much chose themselves!

Rig goes in tomorrow for a roof rack, ARB aluminium job. And today the rear muffler was ditched. Jury is still out on the muffler cut, although it does sound a little more purposeful!
Some recovery points went in as well, sourced from Road Runner Offroad, same as outback ideas I believe.

Will post some more pics once the roof rack goes on, even though it will look exactly the same as every other ARB rack!

                              Cheers,
                              Dusty

Hey Dusty, your recovery points are made by RoadSafe in Braeside, Melbourne. I have the same ones bought from the same reseller, just arrived today. OI ones have a smaller hole where you attach recovery straps/shackles to, and they are red unless they have changed.

Did you have any trouble fitting the driver's side one? Mine's looking like it will foul a plastic bottle (I think that's what it is) that sits above the wheel arch.
