Everything seems a lot smoother and there is a lot more pulling power across the board. It feels like I have picked up half an extra gear between each gear, if that makes sense ?
    Hey Matt,

So you replaced the muffler first - then swapped out for the Beaudesert..... did you do the cat in between swapping to the Beaudesert?

Was it worth the extra clams?

As I only have mine on lease for another 2.25 years, debating about whether to go full system or muffler only.... or muffler and cat. I think for the amount spent on muffler and cat, may aswell go the whole hog.

A friend suggested I could always keep the old and swap back prior to sale - I am guessing it would fit the facelift 150 if I ended up trading up...

    • I found big overall difference on the way it drives with the beaudesert. In my opinion, yeah it's worth the extra cash and like you said, you can always fit it to your next Prado.

My system has a cat fitted.

      • Hi,

As a newbie to PP I've been checking out your build up (all 50 pages) and it looks great. I just wonder why you haven't changed the wheels from standard considering the money you've spent on it, it can't be that? I picked my 150 up last week and it's the first thing I did. The standard wheels look very "ordinary" IMO and I always want my cars to be individual and wheels give them the biggest bang for buck in the looks department - again IMO.

        • Fair question, I have found that rims, no matter how flash or how standard they are still get scratched the same.. LOL

The two grand or so that aftermarket rims would cost me, I would sleep a lot better pumping that money into a strong winch or steel sliders for the Prado.

That said, when it's finally completed, I reckon flash rims will be on my list eventually...

            • Thanks Hutch, I truthfully have never enquired or got prices before .

Got bored today. Changed out all the inner guard locator lugs on the drivers side inner plastic guard for new items. Decided my catch can was abit to bright and that such a flashy thing would be more at home in a BT50. Ripped out the can, sprayed it flat black..

                    • Decided to grab a Uni Filter off eBay as it was a great price.

I have used these in the past with great success and I'm going to trial one in the 150 for a while. In saying that my K&N filter is nice, sounds awesum under load and very nice on road. I like the oiled foam path for myself and will report back how it goes.

These Uni Filters are well constructed and I'm impressed with the build quality.

                      • Yeah Matt, I don't know to much about these ones. Are they an oiled filter?

Please be careful if they are, because to the best of my knowledge MAFS, mass air flow sensors, don't like oiled filters to much. The slight oil traces in the air from the filter can get on the thin wire of the sensor and collect dirt. This in turn can change input values (ohm) to ecu and alter fuel air ratios and boost. This can lead to engine damage.

To the best of my knowledge genuine filters are the choice when it comes to air. By all means pre filter with an oil type device like a snorkel filter, ( I used one for 4 years down the snorkel of a D4D SR5 with excellent results) but make sure your got the good clean dry air after the filter.

If an expert is out there, I am sure you will get the correct advise. The sensor can be cleaned with a spray can type cleaner however if it is damaged, ie broken then its dollars, and lots of em.

                        Cheers, Tony

Yep - many a WRX MAF lost due to oil filters.....
