The sliders are Xrox versions and yeah they are the same type on Mumsrig. Ordered them through 4x4 Lifestyle and are an easy DIY bolt up. Only thing is I wish they ran the entire length of the sills but they do protect the ramp over area well.

      Righto!
Its been a long day waiting for the exhaust to go on. Dropped the car off early this morning and only just got back late arvo with the new 3" Manta bolted on. Much of the wait was due to delivery of parts. Big thanks to Muffler Mike in Maddington for fitting it up. They did a great job taking out the old system with battling against the small bolts around the turbo and then making sure the new pipes were snug with plenty of clearance to prevent knocking. Had to cut into the rear bar slightly to fit the resonator but very happy with how it all went in.

There is a slight difference in note but only noticeable because im listening for it. Its not imposing at all and with the windows up and the stereo on low you cant hear any difference. I cant notice a massive difference in throttle yet but 3rd gear has got a bit of its previous un modded poke back plus I was still happy with how the rig pulled pre exhaust anyhow. The Scanguage has also indicated my average fuel use has dropped by over half a litre under start/ stop traffic conditions and I expect this to improve and also lower use at long range cruising speeds (gotta love 6th gear!). Im not sure how the ECU's work on the Prado's but I gather it will take a bit of time for it to adjust to the new mod. In any case it is already showing positives and im now sitting pretty if I ever wanted to throw in a chip, but a front locker is also on the wish list! Anyhow its been a productive coupe of days with two big mods finally crossed off the list.....now time to fly out again

Have noticed the starter battery has been getting a bit worse for wear so I have ordered a Century N70ZZ4WD replacement unit.

Onto the mobile phone setup now. Have ordered a Motorola Roadster 2 bluetooth hands free kit to clip to the visor. With It I have a universal car cradle to hold either the iphone or android. The antenna is a 9dbi Next G unit that will sit on the bullbar. have checked that both my phones are Next G compatable via this link: http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/net...heck-imei.html

              Hi Milsy23,
The sliders are Xrox. Pretty much any 4x4 shop in Perth can order them. I got mine through 4x4 Lifestyle but I also know that 4x4 And More can also get them in for the same price. They are a simple bolt up install and im happy with the ramp over angle protection they give. There are also a few other forum members that do sliders for the 120 in the far sale section. They are another good option and I think are longer against the sill than the Xrox. All in all they are all great products.

              Cheers,

I was considering installing a solar panel on the front of the roof rack but instead decided to go with a slide under the entire rack that sides out over the bonnet when camping. The slide fits a 120W panel with the regulator installed in the cab. The slide is high enough so that the bonnet can still be opened when the panel is out. The roof rack had to be modified and raised another 30mm to fit the setup and took about 2 days from dummy fit to permanent mod thanks to my old man for helping me out fabricating the blocks etc.

Broome hey, lucky man. Im 600km south from you.
So how did the cost of transport go with all your goodies. Did you buy most items and send at same time as a signle consignmet, was it vastly more expensive than if you where only sending to Perth or a major city?
                    Thanks, Chris.

                      Cheers Butane.

                      Jerrajerra,
I purchased the vehicle in Perth and decided to leave it at my old mans as it was easier to get parts and allot cheaper too. Ive ordered pretty much everything to be delivered to Perth and then did most of the work on the shed bar the suspension, bar work and exhaust which also saved me quite allot.

My suggestion is to buy all your parts and put them into one pallet and put it on a truck to save the most amount possible. Ring around and you will be surprised at how cheap it may be to transport some gear up. Even if it is delivered to Port Hedland for cheaper its not that far a drive to take a trailer and pick everything up. It will be allot less expensive to do that then having anyone up here get the parts in and do any work.

                      Cheers,

After much consideration I have decided to move the high lift jack to the back of the rear bar swing arm. This not only keeps it from hanging out so far out the back but now also lets me run a rear wheel bag too. Its put together with a bit of plate to sit on and a bolt/ bracket to secure into place. I have also sourced a rubber stopper that slides over the top of the jack to secure the handle to the mast.

I also plan to have the shovel mounted behind the same swing arm somehow too. Next on the list is an air foil for the front of the roof rack to kick a bit of the drag of the roof top tent up and over, will also help protect items stored at the front of the rack too.

                        Cheers,

Shovel holder done. Put two brackets on the back so that it can carry something else like an axe etc.

Have also put on the roof rack wind foil. Will be interesting to see if it help in reducing the drag caused by the tent etc.

If you want to reduce drag, you need a pointy tail. Not much you can do when the back of the Prado and RTT is a vertical drop.
