yes, the kaymar does give you steel all the way to the rear wheels, but it's not really there for 'protection'. Derek will tell you on his previous 150 with the kaymar, that even just a slight lean on will bend it. i think they make the wings soft enough for fitters to shape around the 150 easier when fitting. the wings are quite flexible, and i can't see the benefits of the extra weight of the whole set up in general.

i do not believe the kaymar is worth the extra dollars, but if you prefer the look then go for it. the kaymar also hangs lower all round, so it has to be steel as there might be more of a chance of getting hung up. (unless you go for a 4" lift)

hopefully Derek can get some shots of the rig out bush with his week off. too many driveway shots.

PS. his prado hasn't even done more than 4000km yet!!!

    • Hey derek,

whats the coil rate for the rear springs at the moment?

      cheers octane

      • Do opposite lock sell the carrier with a jerry holder on one side?

I like how the carrier uses the factory Prado door handle (unlike the Kaymar), but I think it might make the car too long to fit in my garage!

        • Just got back from looking for a track to butterfly gorge and could not find it but drove thru a good storm,
not sure what the coil rate is but they are mediums.
Measured the suspension and now its 835mm front and 860 rear, so the lift is closer to 3"

          Cheers Derek

Thanks mate for the info. I called Kaymar and they reckon the have a reinforcing kit that comes with it....I don't how good it is though. You have me thinking about this before I make the plunge.

                    • just been on goggle earth and found out where i went wrong looking for the bush track to the back of butterfly gorge, the tall spear grass stuffed me up, need to try again.
about the kaymar, i creased the l/h wing at Palm Creek in May last year on my first 150 Prado, it folded easily without much of a hit, more of a rest on and slide, with the one i have now i don't have that problem, and i think it looks better and suits the Prado look i'm after.

                      Cheers Derek

The parking sensors are there and the bracket on the rear door between the wheels is the reverse camera
Around $4000 for colour coded and fitted

                            Cheers Derek

i ended up along the power line and couldn't find the track from there, after looking on goggle earth i was in the wrong spot altogether.

                              Cheers Derek

                              • derek, you'll need to sort out some back up/reverse/worklights when you get your roof rack on.

i couldn't see you normal reverse lights the other day.

night have to add some small LED pods into the rear bar on the ends.
