  • Yes Bass Strait can be very rough, found that out going to NZ on a cruise a couple of years ago. Had 6-8m swells on the way home too, lasted for 2 days.

Anyway, enjoy your trip and don't forget to share any highlights.

Got the bag fron North West OffRoad at Spreyton, it's a MSA so should be able to pick one up from your local 4WD accessory dealer.

Thanks VK. Got a few things on my list (although nothing urgent) and after visiting Ben the list seems to grow longer. Just got to get approval from SWMBO and the taxman.

Was pleased that we got back OK and the only thing that got broken was the rear seatbelt clip that I snapped off as I pulled something out of the back. Just got to clean everything up now.

                  • Left a 4WD Action DVD about Cape York in the player so the wife would get the hint that I'm think about heading there for the next big trip now that we are back from the Simpson. From her loving response, it looks like I need to be earning a hell of a lot of brownie points befor raising that idea again...

                    • There is more than one way to get to the tip and the way the 4WD Action goes is always the most extreme. Don't let her be put off by what she saw.

                      • I chose one of the less extreme 4WD action ones - and I'd long ago explained how they tend to do things a bit over the top.

I think it's more that she's still getting over the Simpson trip, plus the thought of actually getting up to Cairns to kick the Cape trip off in ernest that has her "less than enthusiastic" at the moment.

Still, not all bad as it wasn't a NO when I brought up the idea of heading into Pieman Heads for a couple of nights camping in Summer

                          • Love your build mate, i've stolen a few of your ideas already...

                            Question:
                            - Do you have a fuse in your engine bay (50amp)for the power feed going to your rear end (the power going to the rear quarter fuse block)?
                            - Are you running your fridge off that fuse block? (just 15amp)

This is exactly how I plan to run mine, I read somewhere someone went through the chassis.

                            Many thanks

Hey Jamie, a lot of my ideas were stolen from others on here too.
My fuse block is in the engine bay, and the power to the sockets are run from there. I think I might go down the path of running a larger power feed to a rear fuse block in the future.
Smithy went through the chassis to run his power to the rear, mine's run internally - just following the original wiring down the passenger side.

Jamie, i ran mine through the chassis rail, if you want any tips... Saved some space for other power and coax feeds through the grommets in the firewall, as there are numerous feeds through there now.
