When we left for our trip to WA two weeks ago i was worried about the load and how the OME would hold up. It had a very different feel on road compared to what we had been used to with no load, and i thought that air bags may be require, but after having done just short of 5,000km in the last two weeks, fully loaded, the suspension feels excellent, and we have got used to the slightly looser feel, and i don't think it needs air bags after all.
The car is travelling well, and all the mods from the last 18 months or so are paying off.2009 White KDJ120R Manual fitted out for family camping and touring - See my Rig Build at http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27887-Smithy-s-Rig-Build

After now having completed the Great Central Road drive, which was 1200kms of mixed surface gravel from good quality to heavily corrigated, to badly washed out, to lose sand.
We managed to travel most of it at between 100 and 90kph, both because we could, and because to do any slower meant feeling the corrugations to much, but there were some sections we had to slow to 60kph.
The conditions are very dry, so the dust around us was significant, and has found its way under the door skins, and is coming out the door handle mounts, which i assume is normal, but that said, i am impressed with how well the Prado kept the dust out, for the most part, a the gear on the roof is covered in the stuff.
Once again, i cannot speak highly enough about my suspension setup. Given the pounding it suffered over the last two days, due to the conditions and the load, it has stood up really well.
W even had 3 unbroken eggs when we arrived in Yulara, though there were 9 unbroken at the start of day two along the GCR.
Overall, the rig is meeting all my expectations.2009 White KDJ120R Manual fitted out for family camping and touring - See my Rig Build at http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27887-Smithy-s-Rig-Build

Bought a GME AE4018 antenna whip in Melbourne today, to replace the remains of my RFI one.
Hopefully this will last longer than the last! The length is about perfect to give SWMBO a guide as to whether she will fit in the under cover car parks or not, too, which is an added bonus.2009 White KDJ120R Manual fitted out for family camping and touring - See my Rig Build at http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27887-Smithy-s-Rig-Build
