How do you find the camper as opposed to the caravan? Is it a bit of a downgrade in terms of luxury? what about extra setup time etc do you regret it or love it as you can take it further off the beaten path as opposed to the caravan..
I'll be interested in this as well, as we are contemplating a camper as opposed to our older pop-top. Mainly for the ability to get to more places.

Before the CT we had a Jayco Outback Swan that went absolutely everywhere including Cape York. That was our last trip with our 2 sons who were then banned from camping with us ever again. I set the Jayco up with solar power and inverters for the kids computers and Play Stations. That was a huge mistake because they decided that they would rather stay inside and play games that go out exploring another beach or another gorge. We sold it and bought the CT which has proved ideal for our needs. Yes, set-up of the CT takes a bit longer. We go in 3 stages: (1) just pop the roof and open up the tent for short overnight stays. (2) fit the awning for extra shade and protection from the elements when we are going to stay for a couple of days or more and (3) zip in the flyscreen/annexe to keep the bugs out for the missus where she will generally sit and read whilst I go out chasing nuggets or whatever. Now, as we "mature" we're looking at something with a little more comfort that doesn't need any set up, just open the door and put the kettle on. I want an off-roader to still tackle some of the great outback tracks but also something that we could live in for extended periods. Also a van won't worry about the rain or cold weather. Nothing worse than trying to put your CT up or down whilst it's piddling down. POP tops are fine until the wind up mechanism craps itself in the middle of no-where as happened to our SA travelling companions on our recent big trip. Mind you, their Jayco was 8 years old and had been dragged through some pretty wild terrain over the years.

        Hey Tads.
How do you find the Manta system? Good quality? Is the power difference (for towing) noticeable? And has it made any difference to the running temp(I see you've got an EGT readout)?
Just wondering if I can justify a new exhaust system without going for a chip as well(not keen on chipping it)
        Can't we just keep travelling?

it definitely has a bit more urge since fitting the system. I pulled my cobra on a car trailer from Kal to Perth & back with cruise set to 100 and managed around the 15l/100km. In 4th it towed without any increase in temp but as soon as I pulled it into "D" there was an immediate 3 - 4 degree rise.

New ORS slide fitted to carry Engel 60 litre fridge. Had to re-jig the drawers system and convert left to right in order to get fridge access sorted. Each fridge has it's own power socket each wired separately and directly to second battery (deep cycle). I had to extend the cargo barrier about 40mm forwards to accommodate the larger fridge/slide. Access is pretty good, am able to reach into the quite easily. The missus will use her little stand. Now I have plenty of cooler space for more beer, more meat and a little bit of salad.

60 litre on ORS slide on left and 40 litre on drawer slide on right. The 40 litre will be used as a freezer.

                  60 litre extended.
