Need to work out a way to protect the carpet around the holes now.

      • Over the last 2 days I have set about tidying up a couple of electrical items. First was the driving light harness - I never liked the way the Toyota Dealer left the cables, so I bought some split conduit and tidied up the whole lot. Annoyingly, every cable had been shortened to just the right length, meaning I couldnt reposition things the way I had originally wanted to. I also re routed the UHF Antenna cable through the engine bay.

In the cabin, I fixed up the UHF mic. connector in the centre console, it had started to sit at a funny angle. I pulled out the console pieces/trim and re-did the cable for this to make it sit more flush.

I have also installed some LED strip lighting into my Awning - Photos will come when next I camp.

        • Hi Spilsy how have you found the volume coming out of the UHF in the centre console.

          Cheers

            Roy,

I have the unit turned up to full noise and can hear it clearly even with the radio on (not loud).
Ideally I'd have a remote speaker, but its not really been an issue.

            Cheers.

In the end, the bill will be $1737.

Lucky me though, as my lease will eventually pay for this, I will only pay about $800 (after the lack of GST and my income tax savings)

                • how do you get your lease to pay for that ? is it a novated lease ? I thought they only covered maintenance and keeping the car running ?

It is novated, and this is maintenance. My current gear is getting to the point where it is no longer capable of doing its job. Hence a replacement is required. The replacement is just better than the stock gear.

I was encouraged to do this by a colleague. He said that as long as I don't mention that its a lift, just a replacement of worn out components, it would be fine.

This is what I sent to my lease company:

It has become clear that the suspension on my Prado has started to sag and is struggling to keep up on rough/dirt roads making the ride uncomfortable, and potentially dangerous.
My Prado's done ~75k and is 2.5 years old. It has a steel bar which has started to cause the front to dip severely under brakes. So, its time to replace.

I havent got a quote from toyota for a genuine replacement, but I suspect it would be about the same as the OME gear.

It's a typing issue. All fixed now.
