                              Re: Joey's rig build up

Looking good there Joey !! Those with a religious belief, might think it is the end of the world if they see you coming the other way all lit up

                              Hows the alternator going ?

Not that I'm telling you to do this as it is probably not road worthy but then again half the backpacker cars around Cairns aren't either.

While I was up your way and with all the jungle driving, heaps of loose jungle use to get caught up in and under the rack. So on the furthest most point on the sides of the Bullbar and like wise on the roofrack I use to run two 5mm stainless steel wires connecting the bull bar to the roof rack and tensioned them up. It stopped all the vines, trees, branches and everything else hitting the windscreen and going under the roof rack. Extremely effective. Mind you I only ever used them off road :P

This was setup on a roofrack mounted into gutters so I don't know if the stress would need to be considered with the roof mount setup?

It was a nice feature I learnt from the Camel Trophy vehicles many year ago.

CAUTION GRAPHIC IMAGES OF ANOTHER MAKE OF 4WD ARE IN THIS LINK !!!
                              http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/G_camelTrophy.htm

The other trick was to mark the clearance height of the rack on one of your aerials up front, so you don't need to get out of the vehicle all the time

With the tracks that Joey likes to take, that would be a damn fine idea for those that follow  ...I can see a trip to Bunnings coming up
