Sizing up the slide and cage today, It seems the cage is the exact width of the top panels of the drawers. I want to avoid drilling and screwing into the metal trim as its to close to the edge of the panel. I move it further towards the centre I loose a lot of space. I was thinking that I might secure it where pictured. The tabs on the base of the cage will then be screwed into the trim around the outside of the drawers. To still have access to the removable panel I will have to remove the two tabs on the left side of the cage (towards the rear of the vehicle).
I fitted the slide today, well for the most part. I cant reach nuts at the rear of the drawers (towards the front of the car). Just need to work out how to remove the left drawer now.
Was able to get to the furtherest nuts on the slide courtesy of a ring spanner taped to the end of my longest screwdriver, No removal of the drawer needed.
Nice. Bit late now I know but from memory with these draws the top has to be removed to gain access to a pain in the butt it and bolt that holds a plastic block on that stops the draw coming all the way out.

Cheers Andy, Thats the conclusion I came to as well. The mounts for the slide cover the bolts that hold the top down so that was a no go anyway.
