Redarc makes Ignition Control and Low Voltage models for cars with 'smart' alternators like ours.
-
Installed a rear light bar today and tidied up the wiring on aux battery today.
Do these new 2.8s have variable alternators I've got a red arc solenoid in and thought that wpuld be sufficient but brother in law has the new hilux and told me i need a different type of red arc system to suit alternator ??

I think it's about 2200 + 400 fitting. I got the suspension for free as i had a coil snap which is like a one in a million chance. So they were very good to me and gave me the MRR gear.

Hey there Slippery,
I have a Kakadu too and looking at bull bars. At the start of this thread did you mention that when you had the bull bar installed they relocated the front camera. Was this something they did as part of the instalation or did you request it.
From what I can tell there isn't a bull bar out there that doesn't have some issue with the safety stuff in the Kakadu. Also did you get you bar painted?
Thanks for the info
Paul

Hi David sorry for delay in reply, was in Hawaii with the family for some R&R !! Lights wise I'm using a set off ebay that i paid 300 for. They work really well. Make night like daylight. One day i might put a brand name on the front but these work really well.
Yeh rear seats came out for drawers to go in. Well with worth it. Much more organised, always have tools and recovery gear on board for that unexpected bush afternoon trip.

Thanks for the advice.
Backs up what I have read in reviews on the web.
I have concluded that I need two long range lights similar to what you recommend and also a wider angle light bar.
Cheers.
David.

With the KVSS suspension and the new Bilstein 50mm lift kit, upgrade springs and airbags, it kicks arse. Obliterates a standard Prado in the rough. I have added another ARB locker to the front so with the front, rear and centre lockers engaged it never gets stuck. It crawls up the roughest of terrain that others can only dream of conquering. I found the bash plates I installed kept bottoming out so with the 50mm lift, this now never happens.
Just love the fridge, the optitronic instruments, the LED headlights, etc etc etc. Did you have to take out the rear seats to fit those cargo boxes in your photos?
I want to research getting some powerful spotties. I used to have 4 Cibie super oscars (2 long, two wide) on one of my previous rigs and these were awesome.
People tell me I can get better illumination with the newer LED lights with less amperage required but I will hold my breath.
As I have only limited space on my ECB bar, two or three large lights will fit on the bar and I was wondering if some wide angle LED bars might fill in the gap so I have a wide spread of light plus distance like with the Cibies.
Have you added any good (and I mean good not Chinese or Korean crap) spotties?
Cheers.
David
I put the HID venom's on bullbar and 42in led light bar on rhino platform its like day time and it's all legal (in QLD)

A good look.
You don't get this kind of wheel articulation with the standard Prados.

Hope you didn't let the critters back in the luxury vehicle after these antics lol!:grin::grin:

HI again Slippery.
I have the V6 4 Litre Prado and although this is a great engine (albeit shocking fuel consumption) I would love to add some extra grunt to it.
Does anyone know some good ways to do this.
* e.g. turbocharging like in the TRD turbo Hilux (mate has one!)
* do exhaust mods make a difference as I loath the whine of my engine (my previous Lexus IS 3.5F had a great note so why not this thing???).
